Protein Bars and Shakes
Good morning everyone,
I hope everyone is happy as me that Saturday is finally here!!! :-)
I am trying to figure out which are the best Protein bars and shakes. Someone told me about twisted bars at Wallmart, I did try them and they are very good.
I also bought the EAS Advantage Dark Chocolate shake but haven't tried it yet.
Does anyone else have any must try's.
I appreciate all the suggestions, I am learning so much.

I hate to say it, but protein is a matter of personal taste. Doesn't hurt to get suggestions though. Twisted bars are really good (hard to find though), but they're high in sugar. If you have bariatric surgery, you'll need to watch grams and types of sugar. Supreme makes a carb conscious bar in 3 flavors, low in sugar, and very tasty. I think the flavors are peanut butter, peanut caramel, and rocky road brownie. Giant carries them. Try some different bars and see what you like. Good luck!
I like most of the flavors of the EAS carb control bars, the "crispy" ones....I forget what they are called now
I also like the supreme protein bar
Rock and Roll bars are pretty good (haven't seen them in stores though) but a little high in fat due to all the peanuts so I would eat half as my snack (they are BIG)
I don't personally like the EAS dark chocolate shake...however...their strawberry one I find tastes pretty darn good! Again...get the carb control variety...the other ones have way to much sugar in them
Expect your tastes to change after surgery so don't stock up if you haven't had the surgery yet. It's good to start experimenting before hand...but it can change in the blink of an eye.
Oh...and I also liked "syntax protein" in cappuchino flavor mixed w/ nsa chocolate carnation instant breakfast with milk and ice tasted like an iced mocha cappuchino shake
Good luck!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
Thanks guys. It's funny to hear that my taste is going to change. I went to my first support group on Thursday. It was really good.
I was talking to a woman who told me that her drink of choice was always Turkey Hill Diet White Peach Tea, which happens to be the same as my drink of choice. She said that once she had her surgery she could not stand the taste of it. I thought that was kind of funny, I couldn't imagine not liking the drink that i have been addicted to.
I wonder what it is that actually changes the tastes buds?

As far as a protein drink, I use Max Protein-Chocolate. For protein bars you really have to watch since a lot of them do contain some bad sugars, etc. I use South Beach meal bars which contain 12 grams of Protein and are not that bad. But, I do try to get all my protein in with my meals.
Hey the guy who live in Pittsburg, your lucky you can get the max protein there....the guy at gnc has shipped me some already here to our area............cost allot to ship, but he paid the shipping. I go to phila. often , l30 miles away and get a load of it and bring it back home here and share with our group....in phila. you buy two get the third free....it is 40 each then, 59.99 for one five pound jug....................I am spoiled only like max protein because you can mix with water and it tastes great.......as far a protein bars, I choose only the ones low in sugar and at least l5 grams of protein.........there are some really good ones out there, but some of them are so good that you have to be careful you don;t overdose on them, calories in are calories in.........surpreme protein, oh yeh bars, power crunch peanut butter, oh yes very good....and atkins does have some good ones too...........

Actually, I still cannot find Max Protein at any GNC's around me. I ordered it from SEI and got a discount code which made it a little cheaper to order. I only have one a day and get my protein through my meals or a South Beach bar so I am OK with paying the shipping.
If anyone in the Burgh knows where to get this locally let me know.
