I am home..and internet is back on!! So grateful..
HI everyone! I see that My OH family came to visit me while I got out of surgery!! I am so thankful for that! I am home now and doing good...just bad gas pains..ugghhh..plus while I did go through some nausous moments..which wasss soo horrible. Finally, got that under control and I am doing the best I can as far as walking around and getting this horrible gas out of me. I would have left a message the night before my surgery however, my internet got shut off due to that the bill did not get paid on time and thanks to my mom she helped me out and I told her I needed to have My OH family or I would be lost without them. I appreicate everyone coming to see me and everyone for posting messages for me letting everyone know how I was doing. Just so everyone knows...my weight in for surgery was 311! down from 329! and post op weight is 321..gained 10 pounds while I was there..but hey...big deal..it will come off. I am just so glad I am home and believe it or not I got home around 4pm today and just did not feel like getting online yet...due to I thought I was going to go to sleep....laid down for a bit and could not sleep. weird. I pray I can sleep tonight.
So glad to hear you are home and doing OK! Thanks for the text earlier, sorry I didn't text back but we were at Knoebels and I didn't get it right away... wasn't sure if you were home sleeping or what, so thought I'd check in here....
You have my number if you need anything!
Hope you get some rest and the gas pains stop soon!

Denise,
It was so great getting to see you in person while you were here. And I'm glad you got home ok and are doing well.
Don't be surprised if your sleep is a little "intermittent" or if you have weird dreams for the first week. Your body has a lot of anesthesia to clear, as well as pain meds, tons of fluid, and just the whole trauma of surgery. Your lungs also have to recover, which is why you're doing the breathing exercises and all that fun stuff.
All that can lead to (of course) trips to pee, finding it hard to get a comfy position, having to cough or change position to breathe better... and then there's the gas pains. The GOOD news is that within a week all that will be behind you, you will have started feeling SO much better and it'll be hard to remember the first few days. :-)
Enjoy the ride!
And just keep walking, walking, walking... just keep walking... (paraphrasing Dory, of course...from Little Nemo)

Welcome home Denise! Glad you made it home safe. Get plenty of rest and walk walk walk and sip sip sip. There are going to be days that you feel great and are going to want to do all kinds of things. Don't go overboard. Your body needs to recover. Get as much rest as you can now in between your walking and sipping!
Glad you are home and doing ok! Keep walking walking walking and don't forget the sipping thing, too! The walking will help you heal faster and get the gas out!
Yup - the gain in the hospital is from all the fluids pumped into you. It will come off soon enough!
As far as sleeping tonight goes...some people had trouble sleeping in their bed the first few nights (I only had trouble getting OUT of my bed...it was hard to rise from a straight position for me, but I had hubby here to act as "hand rails" for me) So the couch might be better...also...take the lortab...you will sleep!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

I got your text and was glad to hear you were on your way home. Sorry I did not get to visit you while you were here. I got a new puppy on Wednesday, and he is high maintenance right now. I did not want to leave him home alone on his first night with me.
Keep sipping, walking and breathing. You will do great.
Welcome to the Losers Bench.
Hugs,
Trish
