OT: Update on my Mom
Went with my mom to the oncologist Tuesday and while the news wasn't the best it wasn't the worst, either. Her cancer is definitely growing and spreading - she has lung cancer and now it has moved into the lymph nodes in her upper left chest area and under her left arm. It is a slow growing cancer, tho, so thats a good thing - bad thing is it is not curable, but not life threatening at this point either.
She has opted to begin chemo treatments again next week - she will receive one treatment every 3 weeks along with B12 shots and taking folic acid. The doc said the treatments aren't as strong as what she received last time so she should do okay with them, and they should shrink the cancer that is there.
So while it wasn't great news it was better than we expected, so we will move forward from here.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers...they definitely help and your support has really been a blessing to me.

Oh Kathy,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time in your life. I know that a positive attitude can do so much while fighting any terminal disease and it sounds to me like your mom is a fighter. Please keep us updated on how she makes out with her treatments. Please take care of yourself as well at a difficult time like this.

Hi Kathy -
All I can say is...keep the faith. My Dad is an 18 YEAR SURVIVOR of lung cancer. He'll be 70 this year. In fact, he just beat esphageal cancer this year and got a clear scan earlier this spring.
In all my years of worrying about him, I have never once lost hope and have made sure that he knows it.
You never know how things will work out. Make the most of your time with Mom.
Take care,
Lisa
