Cough due to cold....

Hi all, as some of you may have read in my recent posts, I have been trying to shake a cold.  My fever is long gone, but my nose is still running a little (clear mucus) and I have a slight cough.  I believe that the cough is due in part to post nasal drip.  I've been taking some OTC stuff, but I have to be careful of what I take due to high blood pressure issues.  And I'm not sure if I want to suppress the cough anyway.

I work for my family Dr. part -time.  On Saturday, I had her listen to my chest.  She said I sounded find when I was breathing normally, but that she didn't like the sound when I coughed for her.  So, she put me on 5 days of prednisone, 40 mgs per day.  It seems to be helping - I'm better with the cough than I was before I started the prednisone.  I have 7 days to go until surgery and will finish the prednisone tomorrow.

Do I need to notify Barix that I am still winding down with this cold and that I was given the prednisone?  When I first got sick two weeks ago, my Dr. put me on Levaquin for 7 days. My PAT paperwork said to notify them of antibiotic use, so  I notified Barix right away and they said that was fine since I will have been off the levaquin for 2 weeks at surgery day.

What do you all think?

Thanks, Lisa

I wouldn't take a chance I would call and let Dr P know - better to find out now if they have to bump you back a bit then the morning of surgery!

Hope you are feeling better!

Thanks Liz.  I just left a message for the nurse to call me back.  Lisa

Update:  spoke to the Nurse at Barix.  She said that as long as I no longer had a fever, I should be fine.  She was going to run it by the Dr. to make sure though and said she would call me back if the Dr. had a problem with it.  So far, I haven't heard back from her.

She also said that I would probably hear from them on Friday with my arrival time for surgery.

Thanks,
Lisa

good news! I know you have to be off the prednisone a certain amount of time pre-op.

Your day will be here before you know it!

Hi
sorry to hear you are not feeling well.
sounds like the same thing that happened to me, except I wasn't done the prednisone yet, so the surgery was cancelled.   They wanted a week off prednisone prior to the surgery.
I'm sure they will take you as long as you are off for a bit and feeling better :)

Hey Kathleen - I forgot that your surgery was canceled due to prednisone....uggh... I'm done tomorrow with my prednisone, so it should be out of my system.
