Good morning everyone,

Does anyone hae any high protein cookbooks or high protein food guides that they can recommend?

I would like to start modifying my behavior patterns before my surgery, and right now I only am aware of chicken and fish having high protein.

Any good websites would be appreciated too.

Thanks and have a great day all

Hi there.......I don't have a website or anything. I think I have one saved on my laptop at home. But I am at work. Just thought I would let you know a few things I eat to get in my protein.

Eggs (I eat lots of them since SIL has chickens and we get TONS of them for free! lol)

Cheese

Plain Almonds

Unjury Protein powder

I have a few recipies at home that I will try and post tonight if I can of some things that are high protein. And I am sure some others on here have some ideas for you. Also, check out the Recipies forum on OH.

South Beach Diet has a cook book you might want to check out. Their basic philosophy is similar to ours - high protein, low carb.

Some high protein items
Ricotta cheese
greek yogurt
cottage cheese
eggs
lunch meat
beef/chicken/pork/seafood
nuts
soy nuts
cheese
milk

just some I can think of right now

I use a lot of the recipes from www.bariatriceating.com  and the woman who owns that store also wrote a book with lots of good recipes.  Her name is Susan Maria Leach, and the book is called "Before & After: Living and Eating Well After Weight-Loss Surgery."  I picked up my copy at Borders, and I love it.

Hope this helps!

also, cream cheese is awesome... 7g of protein per TBSP... which is why I have decided I will be the queen of cheesecakes lol... SF and high protein... because I will also toss in greek yogurt, sf dannon yogurt, reduce fat sour cream... I buy the reduce fat cream cheese for baking and use fat free for when I make my protein pudding...

but, I add some cream cheese to mashed tators, chili, and other sauces to bulk up protein and add another new flavor to the mix of things...
