I think one of the sites is dailyplate.com  And another one is sparkpeople.com  You can google a search for "free nutritional calculator" and the sparkpeople site normally comes up.  When I go to the main site (sparkpeople) I can never find it!

I did the same thing as Pam. Cut all my hair off! LOL. I was about 3-4 months out and couldn't stand it anymore. After I got it cut short, it seemed to grow back much better and hair loss slowed down. Biotin did NOTHING.

I think it's just one of those things you have to go through. It does get better. I promise! Eating protein and using the shampoo suggested above is probably the best solution there is.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

I have some Nioxxin - if you want it you are welcome to it! I think that it did help. My Mom is a cosmetologist and she reccomended it highly. I too lost a ton of hair and it was showing - BAD. I cut my hair short and was gentle on it - less product, less "abuse" blowdrying, straightening etc, less pony tails and no brushing it dry. IT ended about 7 months out for me and after I was on solid foods I was consistently hitting protein and fluid goals and taking my vites.

Hope that it stops soon!

Liz, if you are willing to part with the Nioxin, I would love to try it.  I can pay you for it, as I'm sure it was not cheap.  Let me know.  We can meet somewhere or if you want to send it to me, I'll also pay for shipping.

Don't be silly - it's just taking up room in the shower! I don't use it anymore. I have a few crazy weekends so I can ship it out if you want - let me know!!

The one piece of advice I have is PROTEIN!!!  I am not 3.5 almost 4 years post op and have suffered severe hair loss.  My hair is very very thin on top and thin in spots on the sides etc.. I cover it  with my hair style and color but it's fairly devestating to deal with.  I've been working with a nutritionist for about 4 months now who has increased my protein intake to around 160 which is more then double what my surgeon's goal of 68 was.  I get it all in with a combo of shakes and food.  I've noticed a change in both my hair and nails since I changed my diet around.  In retrospect I think my lack of protein was the issue all along.  So while the surgeon's goal is a good guide line, you may want to exceed your goals and see what effect it has.

I had my hair cut short and did the biotin and Nioxin and it did help I guess it comes with the territory and the good thing about it is that it grows back. My theory is that I rather lose the hair than going around like I used to being overweight. And believe me I know what its like to lose hair but it does grow back.

I agree.. I'd much rather lose the hair then go back to being as fluffy as I was.  It'll grow back and I own baseball hats and can get bandanas if I need them.  Maybe I'll get a pretty hat that I can wear to synagogue if it gets too bad.
