It's started
So, I thought I was going to be one of the lucky ones and not have any hair loss.. yeah right! A few days ago I started to notice more coming out in my hands when I was washing my hair. There is more and more in the drain at the end of my shower and I am finding strands on my clothes, in the bathroom, etc. I mentioned it to my dad and step mom yesterday and my step mom said that she thought it looked thinner on the top,but she didn't want to say anything to me. I don't see it, I think it may just have been how my hair was parted that day. But, maybe it is showing. Siehara says she can't tell and I think she would tell me if she could.
I'm pretty sure that I've read that there is nothing you can do to prevent it from falling out, but is anyone taking biotin or anything to help with the regrowth? Where do you get it? Is it worth it, or should I just wait and see how it grows in on it's own?
THOUGHTS?

Biotin did absolutely nothing for me. I started taking it at about 4 weeks out and continued until about 6 mos out when it was apparant it was doing nothing other than making me shave my legs more.
The ONLY thing that helped me was at about 9 mos out I chopped my hair short and got it "cleaned up" I don't think that would have worked much earlier than that, though, as it was beginning to slow down at that time and I think the cut just helped what was "falling out" come out completely.
If you want to try it, most stores have it....look for it in things like GNC hair and nails formula or just plain I believe.
Susan used a shampoo she said helped...of course, for the life of me, I can't remember it

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

My hair is falling out real bad. It is real thin on top. I cut my hair off to a short style about a month ago. I notice less hair coming out now and that makes me happy. I use Nioxin shampoo which helps it with thickness. I also take Biotin but have not noticed much with it. Maybe Pam is onto something with it though, I do seem to be shaving more often. But I am going to keep taking it until the hair stops coming out. I also think my hair is growing because I feel like I need a hair cut, and I never felt that way when my hair was long.
He never really gave me a true goal until I asked. He told me that I really only need to get in between 60-80 grams. Honestly, I don't count. I need to start. But, considering that I am still only eating mostly protein, I must be getting it in. I have one protein shake a day almost every day since I am at the gym almost every day. I've been using Chike! which has 28 grams of protein per serving and I always make it with soy, so that adds another 7 g. I eat eggs, chicken, ricotta, turkey, steak, etc. I was never good at writing down what I eat. I tried to start it after surgery using fit day, but I still never remember to do it. Even with Liz's daily posts, I just can't get myself to keep track. I need to start doing it.
I tried the Greek yogurts and they are just not doing it for me. Maybe if I add that to a shake, I can deal with them. Maybe that is the one thing that my lactose intolerance is still showing in. I should try it again with a lactaid pill before I eat it. The taste isn't bad when I add SF jelly or whatever to it, I just don't feel "right" afterwards.
