Three years out, and had terrible pain last night!
I will be contacting my surgeon tomorrow, but last night, I experienced a terrible pain under my breast bone that came in waves and lasted for about an hour or a little over. I've lost 143 pounds and will celebrate my third anniversary on August 8. Anyone know or had experience with this? Does it sound like anything you recognize? I've had my gallbladder removed, so it wasn't that. I didn't throw up. No diarrhea. Didn't eat anything that could have gotten stuck. Scared me a lot. Three years out and I haven't had ANY problems since my RNY until last night. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Sallie

Sallie - what did you eat? I get that feeling if I eat too quickly. And it doesn't have to be something you think can get stuck, rice, bread, ground beef and cooked veggies have all done it to me. I was in the worst pain of my life the night I ate sticky rice.
Hope that you are feeling better and it stays away!

Liz,
Thanks so much for getting back to me. I have never had this happen to me and it really scared me. It's hard to believe that all it was was something getting stuck, but I guess three years out doesn't make you immune from it. Maybe I just got careless. I am guessing that is what happened to me. Dr. Brader is also my surgeon. We'll see when I go in for my yearly check up.
I am feeling better, but I need to find out what caused it.
Thanks again,
Sallie

Sallie,
Sounds like something that definitely warrants a call to your doctor. It may not be food-related, and keep in mind that things like heart pain (not to scare you) manifest very differently in women than they do in men. Hence, any significant chest pain makes sense to have checked out. IMHO, of course - I'm not a medical professional, but do have heart issues throughout my family.
I always figure "better safe than sorry."
