So it is not a huge deal but I just had to vent because I am sooooooo annoyed right now...hubby goes out to get dessert for tonight...they get cupcake mix ....and nothing for me.  Now the girls are making like a 100 cupcakes and the smells are killing me...not that I want freaking cupcakes cause really I never was a cupcake person ...but I mean really?????? Like he couldn't pick me up a little thing of no sugar ice cream or something?????? ARRRRRRRRGGGGG!!!!!!  And now I get to listen to the not so melodic sounds of his heavy metal music...arrrgg..

I love him and the girls but sometimes I am just so annoyed ...by them all!!!!!!!  Sorry just had to vent...does this ever happen to anyone else???

Much luv!!

Yup all the time. The first 14 months I never tasted sugar but he would never get me any desserts that were sugar-free. He would always say to me it's okay honey you are getting so thin anyway why don't you have a bite of the regular cake, ice cream whatever dessert he was eating. I guess some men don't think when it comes to that. I don't think your husband meant to do it but it could be that you haven't been having dessert with them for a while and they get used to it. I mean I did not touch any desserts not even sugar-free ones for the first 14 months of my WLS journey. Hang in there it will get better. Remember sometimes it's just head hunger and even "visual" hunger. LOL...

People comment on my over 100 pound weight loss and attribute it to my WILLpower, but it is my WANTpower: I WANT to be thin and healthy more than anything else!

Shilpa-- Oh I know--my hubby wanted me to eat a piece of cake (jokingly of course) so he could see what "dumping" looked like. But he put the cake right under my nose!!! What was he thinking?????Men are so clueless--so I told him to go on YouTube and find a video of a WLS patient filming her dumping experience----NOT PRETTY by the way. He was like "Oh I guess it isn't funny" I was like " Really honey ya think??"
But it usually doesn't bother me--but I was just all around cranky and it was not helping that they made sooo many cupcakes all at once and the girls were all sugared up and bouncing off the walls--it was not a good night for me I guess.

I think it was just head hunger because I am so rarely "really" hungry and cupcakes are just not something I would ever want to eat...so I am going to chalk it up to be cranky and tired.

Thanks!!!!!

It is annoying.  Most of the time hubby doesn't do it to me...but he will frequently ask for things like Wendys or other fast food.  Now...i'm not saying that once in awhile I don't have a fast food burger...because I do.  But I certainly don't eat it often.  I can't tell you how many times he'll call me on the way home from wherever I am and say "on your way home can ya pick up (insert food here)" and then I will go, buy it, smell it in the car, watch him eat it, as I sit with my greek yogurt.

There are times when it doesn't phase me...and times I could take the burger and shove it into his face.

But then I realize...low fat...sugar free...high fat...real sugar...it all doesn't matter.  What matters is how I feel about ME and MY choices and Shauna's line about never being deprived.

The kicker is....how long it takes me to remember those things....cause I tell ya - there are moments that I feel (and act on) that make your post seem tame, LOL

Sugar is yucky.

Pam--My hubby doesn't do it all the time either but last night I must have been in one foul mood because EVERYTHING was working my last nerve...and that was (pardon the pun) the icing on the cake for me--a gazillion frosted cupcakes in the kitchen ARRRRRG!!!

Like you said "There are times when it doesn't phase me...and times I could take the burger and shove it into his face."

Yeah I was right there last night and you are so right it isn't about what they were making and eating because it is my choice to not eat that way and this surgery has indeed taken all deprivation away from me..but every once in awhile--shoving the cupcake in their noses is my mentality!  I know I am such a two year old--LOL--but really when all is said and done Hubby does try to do good by me and I? love him for it but just not last night!!!

You are right--SUGAR is Yucky!!! (That will be my new mantra!!!!!)

Thanks!!!!!

Laura

Hi Laura...sorry this happened to you! But you should be so proud that you didn't give in to the temptation of the cupcakes! I had a similar experience this past weekend. I went to the shore with 11 other girls (neighbors) who ALL know I had WLS & you would not believe all the junk food they brought with them...it was sitting out all over the counters & tables all weekend! Did any 1 of them think to bring any sugar free dessert for me? NOOOO...but I knew that would happen & brought my own food & snacks. By the end of the weekend...I felt so strong & proud of myself! Those who have not had this surgery...they have no idea at all what we go thru & most times don't go the extra mile to think of us...just hang in there & keep doing what you are doing! Also, Congrats on your wt loss success!! Hugs,
Diane

Diane--You did awesome!! I read that post!! Good for you in making the good choices and not getting sucked into the junk!!!

As for me --I was just in a very cranky mood and hubby and girls just worked my last nerve to no end!!!  Normally I do not crave anything like that so I am not sure why I was so bothered by it --but I was tired and cranky and annoyed so I am sure that all contributed to it.  That and  seeing all the cupcakes lined up across the counter!!! LOL

So I sucked on a SF popsicle and allowed myself to vent it out on here!!!  Much better than the alternative!!!

Thank you for your kind words!!!  Keep on successing yourself!!!

I am annoyed by my family constantly. LOL. Not particularly about sugar, but many other things. And today I am SUPER annoyed with Johnny.

Johnny and kids often want to go to the "drive-in" down the road and get ice cream cones. And it makes me crazy. He'll even ask me to hold it while he shifts gears on the way home.

I have fantasized about shoving the ice cream cone in his face but have thought better of it.......I can't have ice cream, not even sugar free, so it's just plain mean!

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Omg!!! My hubby did that to me and I almost shoved it up his nose!!!!  I told him I am not holding it--eat it and eat it quickly!!!!

Men are so completely clueless sometimes......LOL

So know how you feel!!!!

My hubby LOVE Dairy Queen - and well so DID I. 1 of the things I really miss is soft serve ice cream - well he would frequently go out and get it and eat it in front of me. I spazzed! lol

Hope things are better this morning!

Liz
