I was wondering does anyone know if they allow the husbands to spend the night with you in the clinic or do they have to leave and come back? I know they told me what visiters hours are but I was just wondering if he was allowed to stay with me? I have a thing with being alone and really bad anxiety and well I wanted to know if he was allowed to stay or not?

Nope - unfortunately he'll have to leave - there are plenty of local hotels though if he wants to stay close by. If you happen to be there on a "slower" night they might let him stay later but I remember seeing right in the barix bible that they don't let anyone stay.

Don't worry - you'll be on morphine - no anxiety felt/allowed *hugs*

Hi Denise,

I remember them telling me at PATs last week that no one is allowed to stay overnight.  Sorry!  You'll be ok---you'll be too busy walking every couple of hours and trying to get some sleep in between laps!  lol   Liz was right---there are hotels in the area, so your hubby can be nearby.

Nope..no visitors over night.  They are a little bit 'relaxed' when it comes to visiting hours if they are not super busy....but otherwise they must leave for the night
Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

No sorry no overnight visitors but if it helps...you will be surrounded by all the great people of Barix who will come in and wake you up every couple of hours to make you breathe and walk and sip and all sorts of fun stuff!!! LOL But you will also have morphine or another pain med to sort of relieve your stress!!!  Don't worry--Barix is AMAZING they will take good care of you and Dr. P--well I can not say enough good things about her--she is the BEST!!!!

LOL...yeah I know when they told me that I will be awake the whole time I was there and that i cannot sleep I was like WHAT? LOL. Which that is okay with me because I hardly sleep away from home anyways except of course I am sure the pain meds will be working and that will knock me out...Plus, how is the morphine? I have not ever in my life had morphine and honestly I am freaking....I hate pain meds...I am not one to take pain meds and they all scare me. I remember taken vicodin once for a tooth ache and it had me loopy for 2 days after one pill and I swear I would not ever do it again. And I did not I ended up just poppin a whole bunch of ibuprophen instead. Although now that is not something we can take now..so tylenol will be my pain reliever of choice now.

I was so Morphine up Denise I really don't remember..lol I saw the hubby when I went to sleep and he was there when I woke up. I will say he did stay beyond visiting hours every night. If your quiet they really don't bother your visitors. The staff is really great and will do every thing to make you comfortable . You will be nicely medicated the first night any way so you will be comfortable. Let them know your concerns. Good Luck!

You will be fine there.  It is not an ordinary hospital experience.  The night of your surgery is our post-op meeting, so you can see some of us, if we can sneak up there before or after the meeting.  You will be on some sort of pain meds.  I hated the morphine when I had my hernia done, but the demerol after my RNY was great.

During the night you will be awakened every so many hours for breathing and laps.  Just drag your pole around the track and take your laps.  Then catch a cat nap before the next set a few hours later.

There are many of us who live locally.  I can give you my number, if you would like to talk.  I live 5-10 minutes from Barix and my bank is right down the street, and all my doctors' offices are in the mall area.  You can call me anytime if you need a friend to stop by and say "Hey."

Huggles,
Trish
