from Barix Pre-Op seminar held by Dr Pupkova for those patients considering WLS. I love sharing my WLS experience but I get this question everytime I have spoken at her seminar. Will I crave sweets after the surgery?? My answer to that has always been "Be very afraid of dumping" and don't try to test yourself that is how you got big in the first place. I always take my before picture so that they can see the progress I have made in a year and a half. I tell you after a year and a half I am still AMAZED at the ability to see the scale moving. I am not saying that the pounds are dropping off me like they used to but I am also at my goal weight. I only wanted to be a size 10 and have gone down to size 2. What can I say Life is Good.

People comment on my over 100 pound weight loss and attribute it to my WILLpower, but it is my WANTpower: I WANT to be thin and healthy more than anything else!

Hi Shilpa - it's really nice of you take the time to speak to the pre-op patients. I'm sure it was just awesome for those in attendance to see a "live success story".

Congrats Shilpa! You have done a great job!

And YES I crave sweets but the sugar free ones do the trick!

I think its wonderful that you go and share your story - heck, I share mine with anyone who wants to listen!!

I can honestly say I haven't craved sweets but you all know I found out about dumping the hard way so I guess that's what is stuck in my mind. And there are tons of sugar substitutes if you really get that need to have a 'treat'.

Are you wearing your machine? How did that go?

Kathy,
Thank you for your concern. I was fitted with my holter monitor yesterday morning at around 9:30 and it came off this morning. Thank God but now I have red welt where the sticky tabs were placed and it's itching like crazy but they are going to read the whole 24 hours to see how my heart is doing. I should have the results by tomorrow the latest at least that is what the tech at temple/jeans told me and then my doctor will be following up with me. Thanks again for thinking about me. You are so sweet..

I love to hear all the good things that you have to say!  You are an inspiration and I also appreciate that you share the tough times along with the good ones!  The honesty is what makes you so real!  Thanks for your continued inspiration!

You could also say "Yes...but Liz on the OH forum fixes that!"  LOL...Pupkova wouldn't be happy with that response, though :)

Good for you, Shilpa!
Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
