I think I was only told to take Centrum Chewables for now.  I think after surgery they check vitamin levels, then add what we need.

I buy my B1 at CVS; I get the regular CVS brand.

I take:

Centrum 2 x day
Calcium Citrate w/ D 1000mg/day
b1 100mg day
b12 1000mcg day sublingual

I don't have trouble finding the b1...I find it at giant...walgreens...cvs  Sometimes I have trouble finding the b12 (remember, it needs to be sublingual...we don't absorb the regular kind)

now I'm concerned about my B-12. My doc just has me taking a B-complex that has B1,B6 and B12, but never said anything about it being sublingual.  He said that any B-complex would be fine.

Is it okay to take the flinstones vitamins that are chewable with iron?

Make sure they don't have any sugar in them, also be aware that iron taken with calcium will not be effective.  Iron needs to be taken an hour before or two hours after calcium.  Calcium cancels out Iron.

Some days your the dog and some days your the hydrant.

Hi Denise,

She'll have you take the Centrum chewables (2 a day) at first.  I get them at Wegmans, but pretty much any supermarket or pharmacy should have them.

I was already (pre-surg) taking D+K and B-12, both of which are sublingual and available at Wegmans or anywhere Twinlab vitamins are sold.  She said they were fine to continue, and they also had them available for sale at Barix.  I remember from a few years ago that GNC also has a sublingual liquid form of B-12 (you put the drops under your tongue), which was pretty good.

Later (i think it was at 2 weeks), she added B-1 (I got Twinlabs B-1 at Wegmans, but I'm 99% sure they also have them for sale at Barix, but a different brand.

She also added calcium citrate chewables at the 2-week checkup... I have a hard time with them, frankly, because so many of the brands taste horribly chalky to me.  However, they have a couple of flavors at Barix that you may like.  The cinnamon ones are "ok".  I haven't tried the chocolate ones yet... they didn't have a tester open for them when I was there last Saturday.

Hang in there!  See you on Wednesday night!
