Question
Hello,
I am almost 1 1/2 post opt and recently have have been getting light headed and felling like I was going to faint. I would go sit down and then I would be fine. Well this weekend I did faint and I knew it was coming but I could not sit down fast enough and I fell.
I have called my Doc and I have an appt. I was just wondering if this has happen to anyone on here and what could be causing it?
Any info would be great.

I am so glad you called your doctor because he/she is really the only person that can and should answer that question... that being said, I had that happen to me several times in my first few months when I was dehydrated so be sure to get lots of fluids.
Lou
P.S. It sometimes still happens when I am not getting enough fluids

fluids is the number one culprit in this case.
Other causes: low hemoglobin (anemia), blood pressure because of meds (if you were on meds before surgery for high blood pressure, your blood pressure may now be within a normal range and your meds are bringing you to low)
Glad you are seeing Boe...it definately needs to be addressed
Oh - and just as an FYI caffeine is completely against the rules for at least 6 weeks post op. And if you DO consume caffeine, you need to drink your 64 ounces of non caffenated beverages PLUS the equivelent of the ounces of caffeine you had (for example; 64 ounces fluid; 20 ounce regular coffee + 20 ounces additional decaf fluids)
Feel better!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

I am 1 year and 1/2 out from surgery, sorry about that it wasn't very clear in my first post.
I called my family Doc. Should I have called DR. BOe for this?
I was not on blood pressure meds until I had the surgery. I was put on it in the hospital right after my surgery and I have been on it ever since.

Dehydration is most likely the culprit - I'm almost as far out as you (2/18/08) and I've noticed on weekends when I'm not getting all my water in that I will get slight dizzy spells and I know that's what it is because I never get them during the week when I'm drinking tons of water at work. Weird how our bodies work.
I would also say to get your BP checked - if you've lost a significant amount of weight chances are you don't need those meds anymore and your BP could be dropping too low at times.
Keep us posted and take care!

What did you eat right before it happened? I was going to guess reactive hypoglycemia, hypoglycemia or dehydration.
If I eat a meal of carbs (bad I know but it happens) say 1/2 bagel with cream cheese - within 30 minutes I am dizzy, shakes, cold sweats and if I wait I am pretty sure I'll pass out - here the carbs spike blood sugar then the body kicks in to counteract it and produces insulin which drops the sugar levels too quickly - bam - uncomfortable!
see what the PCP has to say and call Dr Boe and get labs drawn - that's what I would do.
