Okay so I have been busting my buns trying to  just maintain at about 130lbs and just came back from the doctor's office and now weight 125lbs. I am okay with that and know that generally I bounce between 125-135lbs it's when I see 140-45 that I will get concerned. However this morning after my INTENSE workout on my Elliptical I almost fainted in the shower. I did manage to be awake during this "episode" I call it an episode because it lasted for what felt like 5 minutes. My heart was racing and I literally felt like I was in a coffin and the lid was getting lowered all the way to my nose. Anyway the only reason I did not fall to the floor is because my shower has a hand rail that you can use to get in and out of shower and I was holding onto that with dear life. Anyway to make a long story short the doctor ordered a whole battery of test to include all kinds of blood work. He recommended that I get hooked up to a Holter monitor. I have never even heard of this but apparently it is a monitor that I would be wearing around my neck and would have a battery backpack that I would need to carry around with me. Has anybody ever heard of anything like this?? I was told that this would monitor any irregularities as far as the heart beats are concerned. I am seriously getting freaked and I want to do this over the weekend as I do not want to wear this contraption to work. I did have an EKG at his office and they said that my heart beat was a little slow but my heart did not skip any beats which is apparently a good thing. I am just freaking because I have never had any kinds of heart issues and it may not be my heart but the dizzy spells have been ongoing for about 4-6 weeks and this morning my husband found me dripping wet sitting on my bed with just a bath towel around me sobbing uncontrollably because I did not want to worry him. BAD IDEA as he was furious with me of course all of this is because I have had the WLS and lost too much weight. Don't get him wrong he was not supportive of my decision but is 100% proud of how well I have done on this journey but he seems to think I should also call Dr Pupkova but it's got nothing to do with my stomach but might have to do with my hemoglobin counts which are really low. I am tired all the time and sick and tired of being tired all the time. I feel like a big cry baby. Sorry.....

People comment on my over 100 pound weight loss and attribute it to my WILLpower, but it is my WANTpower: I WANT to be thin and healthy more than anything else!

Oh Shilpa - I am sorry you are feeling so bad.   I'm glad that your doctor is looking into this. Try to remain as calm as possible because we know added stress just causes more physical problems.  Maybe Dr. Pupkova or a nutritionist can help also.

I am thinking of you and hope you find some answers.

 Hugs, Arlene

Shilpa, I'm sorry you are going through this.  I know you work hard to maintain your weight. I'm just wondering if maybe you are overdoing it.  Are you eating enough? Getting in your vitamins? Maybe you are doing TOO much exercising and/or not getting in enough calories to support the exercise you are doing.  I really don't know what to tell you, but I'm glad you have contacted the doctor and that they are running tests.

We've got to get you back up to par!!  Hugs to you.. hoping you feel better soon

Take a deep breath there honey!  Everyone is entitled to their breakdowns.

First of all...you need to take a step back.  Not burning 1200 calories on an elliptical for a day or two won't kill you.  However....falling off of it because of an "episode" and cracking your head open could.

Halter monitors are absolutely positively NO BIG DEAL.  When you are having episodes like this they need to check your heart rate for irregularities and hear abnormalities could be the cause of episodes.  Oh - and the low heart rate thing - it's probably because you are now working out consistently.  Most athletes heart rates can be anywhere in the range of 45 depending on how much they work out and what not.  It would surprise me if your heart rate was hanging around 48 or so at this point.  And yes..it's a little monitor with all sorts of wires and stickers on it that are put on your chest.  And it is in a little pouch that gets hung around your neck.  Seriously though...you wear a shirt that isn't to form fitting and NO ONE will know it is on most likely.  I had to wear one a few weeks after my bypass surgery cause at barix my heart rate was 45 and that wasn't normal so before pupkova would clear me for work, she wanted a cardiologist to see me and that's what he ordered.

As far as your husband is concerned...brian would be the same way.  He's just concerned and he has every right to be concerned.  And so do you.

And if this is your hemoglobin....worst case scenario most likely is if oral replacements aren't working (I believe you've been on them....) a blood transfusion and/or iron transfusion.  Obviously not a fun great time out...but you will feel better afterwards and you won't be sick and tired of feeling sick and tired!

Hang in there....do what the docs want....and you'll feel better!

Hi Shilpa - I'm not a doctor so have no idea or advice on what to tell you - just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you and hoping you find the answers to what's going on with your body and your health. I would just say take it easy on the exercise until you find out what's going on - passing out anywhere is never a good thing! Big hugs coming your way - take care and keep us posted.

A Holter Monitor is just what you said. Kind of a 24 hour EKG that with catch any arrhythmia that might cause fainting. You'll have leads (electrodes) attached to your chest and you will carry around a small box which is the recorder.  BUT . . . if you are anemic, I'll bet that's the problem. I fainted while taking a shower about 3 years ago because I was bleeding (pre Hysterectomy). I was so weak I could n ot even lift my arms over my head to wash my hair. Next thing I knew I was going down. After I had a hysterectomy and Iron therapy, I felt fine. The heat from the shower could have just exacerbated your weakness.  I'll send positive thoughts your way
