Hi everyone!
I am having RNY on Thursday and have never been in the hospital before for anything!! Can anyone help me out with what to pack or take with?? I already know to wear my glasses, not contacts, but what else do I need? Pajamas, underwear??? Anything would be helpful. Danville is about 1 hour and 20 minutes away, how about tips for the ride home?

bring some comfy clothes for the ride home. Elastic waist band. Easy to get on shoes.
i did alot of walking in the hospital so I had some slide on sneakers.  If you have any special cleansers or anything bring that. I pretty much stayed in a hospital gown. I did not read, watch tv, listen to music anything. I was too wiped out. They should have basics like shampoo etc unless you want yours. Bring hair brush and tooth brush. Some feminine products alot of times the surgery causes us to start our period.

I've heard some people say to bring along a pillow for the ride home. It should help with the bumps if you hold it against your stomach. You might also want to consider stopping on the way home so you can get out of the car and walk for a few minutes. Good luck on Thursday!!!

Bring some lip balm and moisturizer -- the hospital air is quite dry, and when you can't drink, the balm helps dry lips.  I brought a pair of Crocs with me  -- they were easy to slip on and off for walking and very comfortable, too.  I couldn't focus enough to read a book or listen to my iPod, but my sister brought me some trashy magazines (People and US Weekly) and those were good for me.  For the ride home, I agree about bringing a pillow, and also get a dose of your pain meds right before you leave, and that should help.  Good luck!

Aside from what you need in the hospital, make sure you have what you need at home.  You will not be up to going to the market for about a week or longer.

Measuring cups

S/F Jello

Strainer

Food Chopper

Small Pot

S/F Popsicles

No sugar added beverages

Decaf Tea

Low Fat Chicken Broth

S/F Applesauce

Immersion or Regular Blender

Ice

You may also need something to help you get in and out of the shower

Some days your the dog and some days your the hydrant.

Great question!
Thanks also for the "being prepared at home" list!

Any more ideas?
Just like to be prepared!
