Question about Wedding shortly after surgery date
Thanks for all the input everyone.....
I will only be two weeks + four days out from surgery. My diet will be full liquids only.
I'm really torn....I haven't looked very closely at the invitation to determine what type of meal that will be served. If it's buffet, I could definitely get away with not eating much at all. And I really like the idea of putting a sugar free pudding in my car or purse and sneaking away for a minute. I'm sure too, that there will be at least an hour or so in between the service and the reception. SO could probably even take me home to have my WLS friendly fare in advance and then I could use the "just getting over a stomach bug" excuse as to why I'm only sipping water and decaf coffee.
I think I will run it by SO's Mom. It's her closest sister's son that is getting married. I'm sure she'll have a thought or two on it. I'd feel badly if they wasted the money for my plate, but I don't want to advertise my surgery.
My other concern is getting sick - I don't want to be put in a position where I feel like I have to eat something. I will still be healing at that point and do not need a trip to the ER.
You guys are the best !
Thanks again.
Lisa

When I first went out after surgery I thought everyone would notice that I wasn't eating - guess what? Nobody noticed!! Lots of people only pick at food - it is us Morbidly obese people who notice everything!
There are plenty of thin people who only pick at food - no need to tell the hosts - I just give my husband most of mine - enjoy the copnversation, the dancing and the freedom from obsessing about food for now.
I also keep a little thought right in my head - "I don't eat bread...sugar... fats..or drink soda. or alcohol" It really helps me stay positive.
Good luck
