I did an hour on my Elliptical on intense level and some light weights burning off about 1300 calories. Feeling great still don't like excercising but loving the results on the scale. I have now been maintaining at about 130lbs. (BMI of NORMAL) Not trying to lose any more weight but feeling like I am watching what I put in my mouth but enough about me. What are you guys doing to move today??

So i did a medium intensity workout this morning with EA Active.  Burned about 210 cals (far short of what you're doing Shilpa - you must really ROCK that elliptical! Pity you can't hook it up to a generator of some sort and power your house with that workout - haha!).    My workout this morning was mostly lower body and cardio (yesterday was more upper body and cardio, which i really felt when i combined it with about 3 hours of hard yard work (digging and shoveling, raking, etc.).

This evening I plan to also do a walk/run, which I've been combining with hand weights to add tons of reps to biceps, triceps, lats, and every other upper body "ep".

Karen,
Thank You for the kind words. But look at you doing so much and you are still a newbie. I am thinking about investing in the Wii EA workout. I know plenty of people who enjoy the Wii system. Just to break up my workout routine. I am walking on air today and I went to give blood and was denied again since my hemoglobin is lower then last time but my pulse if low and the donation collection nurse told me it's because I am excercising all the time. Who Knew?? I wouldn't lie to you it's hard to keep myself motivated but I like to eat too much not to excercise. I still don't like the intense workout but LOVING the results...

I'll tell you, Shilpa - i've always hated exercise (with a passion) because of how it made me feel... but now I'm really enjoying it.  The Wii has made a huge difference because it's actually FUN.  I really like the Wii Fit's built-in exercises, but I'm outgrowing some of the workout things (mostly the aerobic things) as I up the intensity.  However, the yoga, balance, and strength things are still really challenging.  But adding the EA Active to the Wii has made all the difference.  It's a really remarkable program.  And it's so easy to adjust intensity, between picking a different intensity (changes reps and speed on the exercises) and adjusting the resistance band for more or less resistance (and of course you can buy tougher resistance bands at the sports store too)... and you can add wrist /ankle weights as well if you want to up it even more.  So I feel like it will grow with me for quite a while.

And I figure right now I'm probably taking in between 600-900 cals per day, so burning 200 of them with my morning 25 min exercise is pretty significant!  As my cal intake goes up over time, the workout will obviously have to go up too, so I need to be mindful of keeping all that in balance.

Is the EA workout the newer game out with the leg band that you put the nunchuck in and what not?  I saw a brief ad for it and wondered if it was worth it.  If it's the same thing you are talking of...I'll be getting it!  I have Wii Fit, and honestly, don't think it's worth just about anything accept for the yoga and balance stuff.

Yep - it's the one that just came out last month.  It comes with the resistance band and the nunchuk holder (one of each).  You can get an additional resistance band and nunchuk holder and set the workout so that 2 people are working out simultaneously, which is kinda cool, too.

It's called EA Active.

One tip, though... when running, instead of putting the nunchuk in the leg strap, hold it in your left hand.  That's the only "buggy" thing I've found, and it frustrated me for a day or two on the running segments.

As far as Wii Fit goes, at the beginning it was a good "startup" workout as someone who had not done any exercising.  And the hula-hooping is still a good whole-body cardio and limbering up workout.

EA has a tennis game coming out this month that also looks really good, as a workout.  Even more capabilities in terms of types of shots, realistic game play, matches against "real" players, etc.

I posted this on HG's thing to....but I'll post it again because I'm just soooo tickeled pink!

I WENT ROLLERBLADING.  And here I am, typing without any broken bones!  I didn't even fall once.  (Disclaimer:  there were TWO times I would have.  Once leaving the house and once coming back up the drive way.  But hubby came with me because he was "mildly concerned for my safety" and those two times he came in handy)

Now...it wasn't a "get your heart rate up to 120 and stay there type of work out"  I would have had to go way to fast for way to long for my comfort level and for being the first time out.

HOWEVER my goal was to be out for 20 minutes and we were out for 40!  I skated the whole time...Brian would be walking I would skate ahead, then skate back to where he was in his walk and continue this pattern.

I'll need a lot more practice to get a "good" work out in...but hell...that's better than just sitting on the couch, right?

Pam - that's awesome!  Good for you to get out there and do something fun like that!

I've never been good with things with moving parts (loved ice skating, hated roller skating, for example), but rollerblading has always looked like a lot of fun to me.  Maybe someday! Gotta build a lot more leg strength first though!
