My 2 year surgiversary

Yesterday was my 2 year surgiversary.  I just want to let everyone know how my life has changed.

2 years ago getting I weighed 306 pounds.  I wore size 28 (4X pants).  Getting off the couch was a workout.  Putting on my socks made me break a sweat.  I could walk 1/2 a block and then my knees, hips and back would ache, and I'd be out of breath.  I was married to an abusive, drug addicted man for 21 years.  I took medication for diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

This weekend I weighed 155 pounds.  I wore a medium shirt and size 14 jeans.  I walked for miles on the beach and boardwalk in Wildwood.  I shopped for a tattoo.  I made wild, passionate love with the new man in my life.  I went fishing.  I sat on the ground and got up without a problem.  I had no pain.  I took vitamins, but no medication for other medical conditions.  I laughed and played.  I put on my old pants and my whole body fit into one leg.  I thanked God for my surgery, and I thanked my family for being so supportive.

Now I'd like to thank my OH friends and family for being there from the start of my journey until now.  Even though I didn't post for a while, I maintained some friendships on line and off, and I appreciate all of the encouragement and support I've gotten.  May God bless everyone of you.

And for those of you in the stage of thinking about surgery, or planning it and waiting for a date, let me tell you that it is worth every moment of waiting.  Having gastric bypass surgery was THE BEST decision I ever made.  I have no regrets.  I am happier and healthier than I have ever been.  I wish this happiness for each person out there.  It is an AWESOME life!!!

Blessings, Jill

Jill,

Thanks so much for posting your inspirational story.  It helps to see how much this truly is a life-changing journey.  It's not about "size" (from a vanity perspective) as it is about health and quality of life overall!

Congratulations on two great years!

Ironically enough, I went fishing and made wild, passionate love with the new man in my life this weekend as well. Small world!

People comment on my over 100 pound weight loss and attribute it to my WILLpower, but it is my WANTpower: I WANT to be thin and healthy more than anything else!

WOW ! What an inspiration! When I have bad days, I'll read this over and over to remind me why I did this.
