I just weight myself I am have gained 2 1/2 pounds since Sunday.  I don't know what is going on.  I am not doing anything different.

I am getting my walking in.  And I haven't start to eat anything new, taking my vitamins/calcium.  What is happening?  I didn't think this was suppose to happen.

Here is what I am eating.

8 oz soy protein shake with 1% milk every morning.
lunch yesterday was 4 oz of tuna today I have tablespoon of refried beans with some cheese
dinner yesterday was tablespoon of refried beens with some cheese and salsa tonight not sure what I am eating.
yesterday snack was a sugar free pudding.

I am drinking my water I am getting about 40 oz of water in now.  Yes things are fitting better but I just don't know what is happening.

Any suggestions?

PS Aunt Flow came for a visit on Sunday and is already left the building, so it isn't that.

You just had your surgery less than 2 weeks ago? Why are you weighing yourself already? Your body has lot of adjustments to go thru and you seem to be eating solid foods? Is that on your diet already? Seems early for that stuff to me.

Your body is going to go thru all kinds of adjustments during the first 2 months - you'll lose, then gain, and lose again while your body is trying to figure out what the hell happened to it. Right now it thinks you're starving to death and its going to hold onto the weight until it realizes that you aren't starving and things are going to be okay.

GET OFF THE SCALE - GET YOUR WATER IN - DO YOUR WALKING - The weight will come off. You're not doing anything wrong other than hovering over that scale way too much right now.

I personally don't think you are eating enough you need to check your consumption of protein and also give your body time to heal.  You are expecting to much too soon just relax and go with the flow and it will come off, I promise it does take time and you need to be realistic about your expectations and whatever you do don't become a scale slave and do not compare yourself to others. Some people have more or less to lose than you do and do lost faster than others so one day at a time and easy does it. Relax, inhale, exhale.

Thank you.  The doctor told me to go on soft/puree foods.  But I am definately going to start to doing more protein shakes.

With everything your body has gone through weight fluctuations are normal from early out to years down the road.

Also...my water weight doesn't leave from AF for about a week AFTER she leaves. That is new since surgery for me.

Besides getting off the scale....or at least only weighing yourself ONCE weekly the only other thing I can suggest is to make sure you are eating 6 small meals a day, about every 2-4 hours.

Hang in there...you aren't doing anything "wrong" your body just doesn't know what the hell is going on right now.

Also....week 3-6 is the PERFECT time for a complete and utter stall.  Your body is now realizing "holy crap...I'm starving...I'm not getting like ANY calories...I must hold onto every little ounce on me in case this 'starvation' period lasts for a long time"  However....it is only a matter of time before it simply can't hang onto stuff any longer and the weight will come off.

Make sure you have taken your measurements, too.  Once a month.  Here's what I measured:

Neck
Bust
Chest
Each bicep
Waist
Hips
Each thigh
Each calf

Here's what I wished I would have measured along with them:

Forearms
Wrists
Ankles

I know the wrists and ankles seem weird...but I have so many bracelets and anklets that are way to big now...wish I would have had cold hard numbers to see the difference.

First rule - STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALE!! Set a day a week and weigh at the same time, in the same place and wearing the same thing (or nothing like i do -easier to remember! lol)

Your first month is going to be ups and downs, you were pumped full of fluids in the hospital. If your period is just ending you are still retaining water.

Also up your water - you should be getting in at least 64 ounces of water.

And if you haven't already take your measurements, and do this monthly it will provide gratification I promise!! Measure each arm top and bottom (bicep and forearm), thighs and calves, ankles, wrists, bust, waist, hips and I did under my bust. Some people also do neck. There will be plenty of times that you won't loose weight but will loose inches.

I know many Drs send you right into solid foods - just take it slow and steady and eat by the times and measurements.

The weight will come off!

It is too soon to get discouraged.  I am still in shock that you are already on soft foods.  Just follow your doctor's orders and step away from the scale.  As others have said your body is in starvation mode and it needs time to adjust.  From what I understand, your focus at this point should be, movement (walking), getting your protein in and staying hydrated.  All else will come in time.  I just hope in 19 days when I have my surgery I remember the advice I am giving you.  Congratulations on this fist step of the journey to find the new you!
