For those of you who went to Langhorne, PA for your PATS...how long were you there? Also has anyone ever not lost the weight they wanted you to lose by then? I am not sure if I lost the ten pounds I needed to because I do not weight myself at all. If I go to the drs then I get weighted. The reason I am asking is because well..I do not want them to change my surgery date on me I still have 23 days before my surgery to lose the ten pounds...however...Wow is it hard...because I am an ex-smoker...and well it is soo hard not to want to eat more.

I had my PATS nine months ago, and I believe they took about 4 hours.  As for the weight loss, as long as you have not gained you should be fine.  I had to lose 30 before my surgery and I had lost 19 by the time I had my PATS, and I lost the last 11 before my surgery date, using a modified liquid protein diet.

Good luck with everything.  You are in good hands with Dr. Pupkova and Barix!

My PAT's were connected with a visit with my Anethesiologis and surgeon so all together it took about 4-5 hours.

As far as the weight, the way my program worked is that if you gained before they scheduled your surgery, the would not do it. I think it depends on your insurance. I had to lose 5% of my body weight before they would approve me. Little changes mean a lot. Don't take the second helping, use a smaller plate and fork, drink water, walk, fill up on veggies, snack on fruit. It took me a while, but I lost it. I'm actually down 26 lbs since my start (but that includes an 8 day liquid fast).

I had PATS at Langhorne close to 2 months ago (wow! has it been that long?).  They took right at 4 hours, and included blood work, long and detailed meeting with nutritionist (including a chance to taste some of the protein drinks), general physical with the internist (not your surgeon), long and detailed meeting with a surgical nurse, meeting with respiratory therapist (including getting the inspiration spirometer you'll be using to work out your lungs prior to and after surgery), brief meeting with Dr. P.

If you're on a CPAP machine, make sure you bring it with you to PATS!!!  Very important!

All in all, it was a lot of info and very exciting!
