Blowing my own horn!! Toot Toot
Yesterday was my 2 year surgiversary!!
I can't believe it's been 2 years already and so much has happened since I was first counting down the days to get the surgery. Here are some of the things I feel are important:
1.) I feel healthier than I have ever felt in my life!
2.) I no longer live in constant pain from my back and knees (past surgeries and arthritis).
3.) I am happy to tell anyone who asks - how and why I did it (gastric bypas) and, I feel it is an important educational opportunity to INFORM people that it is far from being 'an easy way' to weight loss.
4.) I believe getting control of my obesity (or lack thereof now) has helped me to truly discover more of what I am capable of, made of and what I can accomplish when given the opportunity, encouragement and SUPPORT of like minded people.
5.) Ultimately I realize I have no control over anything in my life but if I use all my TOOLS including this WLS tool, I can stay on a coarse of health and perceived control when I follow the recommended guidelines and the option for life I committed myself to when I sought out to have surgery.
6.) I tell everyone that WLS is a choice for life and it is a life long commitment to make healthy choices and follow healthy plans.
7.) I have learned that my weaknesses for food are human and failing to stay the coarse does not have to mean to continue to follow a road to destruction. It means grab the map and get back on the road or as we say here BACK TO BASICS!
8.) I have also leaned that weight fluctuation is normal following maximum loss and a return to 'normal' eating. However, when fluctuation begins to be climbing only without reductions, it is time to re-evaluate the schedule of eating, the amount of food, the food types and the exercise or LACK of exercise in my daily life. Kick myself in the butt.
9.) I am a SUGAR-HOLIC and I cannot allow myself to eat cookies, cakes, danish, or candy unless it is sugar free or a healthy no sugar added item.
And lastly,
10.) I would do this all over again in a heart beat and definitely recommend this option for anyone who has suffered with obesity and is ready to make a life long commitment to health and well being!!
Okay, maybe this is the last comment. My only regret is that I did not have this surgery earlier in my life. I think having it when I was 40 would have had a signifcant effect on my life.
Happy Memorial to all, continued successing to the veterans (WLS vets that is) and congrats to all the newbies!!
Life is better after WLS!!

Hi Kathy,
Keep your great attitude and hang on to all of the reasons you are doing this. It will be the inspiration from within that will get you to where you want to be. The rest of us are just supports who had supports and what I like to call idols/heros from those who went before us. You can be inspired by another but it takes YOU to do the work of formulating the inspiration in order to do or change something in your life. Be inspired but know that you are your own inspiration through your desire and action.
Can't wait to hear all about your journey and sucessing! The time will pass quickly.

I hope someone told you that many (if not most) od us who check in on OH boards are the best at keeping folks in mind & prayer on surgery day. Be assured of my best wishes and prayers for your upcoming "birthday!" It is all very possible.
Thanks for your responses to my post.
