surgeon's goal for me 195lbs

So yesterday was my final preop meeting with my surgeon and they finally gave me my weight goals. My *ideal* weight would be 140, but his goal for me is 195lbs. 195 would be just over a 100lbs since I started my journey. I think that's great, but when I used to be 195lbs I still had quite the handful of health problems and obviously on the BMI scale I'd still be obese. Am I expecting too much by hoping I'll lose more? One of the main health problems I wanted to improve was my PCOS/almost infertility. I've wanted children for as long as I can remember and now that they tell me I probably can't at my weight it kills me. At 195 though I wasn't having regular periods so I'm worried this won't be fixed. Plus I was insulin resistant then too.

Thoughts?

Get to 195 and then see how you feel.  If you are still doing well and still losing, I'm sure the surgeon won't have a problem with you continuing to lose.  As long as you are healthy, I'm sure it will be fine.

that's what I'm hoping for...I just want to get healthy and I know losing 100lbs will help...I just wonder if it's enough.

I know some docs will give you a target weight to get to and then once you hit that they give you another target weight...

I have PCOS like you and I know that for my issues to get better... I will need to get close to my goal weight which is 125... because at 130- i'm over weight... sucks being only 5'2 at times lol... but I know that I will have a lot of skin to come off because my skin isn't bouncing back at all... so for now I want to hit 140 and then see what happens... unlike others I will have to get a breast reduction besides getting the other skin off...

so just hit 195 and see what happens...

I was hoping that he might give me another goal after/if I meet the first. Maybe he just didn't want to put pressure on me.

With my pcos maybe it will be better at 195, I mean some periods are better than what I have now (none) and I also hear that your hormones go crazy for a while so who knows.

I have lost a 130 pounds and without birth control at 211 I still had issues with my period... my period in dec was a mess and it seemed like I was going to go back to skipping them again because I needed to come off it because it was causing me to gain weight again... the I got pregnant at the end of Dec lol...

But make sure you get on a non oral form of BC after surgery... or even before... I was on the depo shot for a while and loved it... then switched to the nuva ring... but it caused me some major weight gains, mood swings and would snap Jeremy's you know what during sex... so that got tossed out the window... so from August of last year to Dec we didn't use any protection to see how my body was doing with the PCOS... my OBGYN agreed to this as well because blood tests only show so much... he really didn't think i would get pregnant because I still have 80 pounds to loose...

But, I think us gals that have PCOS tend to stall more because of how messed up our hormones are... so make sure you do measurements... and really watch the carbs...

right now oral BC really messes with me emotionally and I seem to have every physical side effect too. I was put in the hospital in Nov this past year because I had severe vertigo, 4 days in the hospital and they finally decided to stop my new BC and what a shock...the dizziness went away. since then the ob/gyn is leary of oral BC for me. we could have tried more oral ones, but since I was planning on surgery and they say to stop it at a certain point we never started back up again. just used non oral forms. I've tried nuva ring and had some issues too. was thinking of trying it again after surgery, but not sure.

Try the depo shot... one shot for 3 months... no period... and can't be messed with antibotics... talk to your OBGYN about it... might be a good fit for a while...

don't wait till after surgery... I would call them now because you don't want to get pregnant right after surgery... it does happen even to people that have been told they could never get preggers on their own...
