Hi Everyone-  I am one week post op today and doing well!   Surgery was uneventful, as was the hospital stay.  I got home late on Friday and have been resting, walking, sipping, attempting to get in all the protein!!!
I am sooo fullll!!!   I find that I am not liking any of the protein drinks I liked pre-op, which kinda stinks!    I need to get more samples and see what I like now!

Saw my MD last night b/c I was concerned about dehydration (was a little dizzy).   I wasn't overly dehydrated, but got some great news-

blood pressure was 114/80 (I've been on Blood Pressure meds for 10 years and have not taken meds since the surgery!)
Pulse was 72 (usually ran around 95)
No acid reflux since surgery!!
Also, lost 20 lbs since liquid diet (12 lbs since surgery)!!!!!

Thanks for everyone's support!   I'm happy to finally be on the "loser's bench"!!!!!

Congrats.. Welcome to the "loser's bench" many many wows to come... enjoy the ride...

i found that protien shakes were to sweet right after surgery to the point that they made me gag..  greek yogurt, anywhey protien in luke warm broth, and isopure waters, were my life savers... good luck!

If you like greek yogurt try mixing 5 1/2 oz with 1 tbsp. of the powdered Jello F/F S/F banana cream pie or pudding mix.  Thats just the powder, don't make up the mix into the pudding.  Blend it until there is no powder crystals remaining and no clumps of yogurt.

Its good protein and zero fat, low carb, low calorie

Some days your the dog and some days your the hydrant.

Welcome to the bench Kathleen.. Sounds like you are doing great! I was getting dizzy a bunch in the beginning.  You just had major surgery and your body is going through a lot of changes right now.  You are tired.  There are many combinations of things that will make you dizzy.  Remember to take it slow and you'll be fine!

Congratulations Kathleen and welcome to the losing side of life!! Sounds like you're doing very well with your recovery and post-op - and don't worry about not getting all those proteins in right away - none of us do - concentrate on getting fluids in and as much protein as possible - it will get easier and yeah, it sucks when our tastes change so much! But it'll all come back.

Welcome to the Loser's Bench!!

Sounds like you are doing great - congrats on an uneventful surgery.
Just keep trying to get in all of your protein - it is hard work at the beginning.
Being full is wonderful!
