OT - update on onco visit
Thank you all so much for your good wishes.
Today's visit was just as great as yesterday's. The doctor came in and sat with me for about 45 MINUTES (how long has it been since a DOC did that?!) and did an extremely detailed family history and questioning about my current health. He had me "oversee" his dictation of the medical report and plan so that I could stop him or add clarification to anything that wasn't clear or complete (REALLY!).
His take on it is that this is likely a benign growth that may have been there all my life, but with my family's history of colon cancer (my dad was diagnosed at age 39), it's worth following up and being 100% sure about.
So I'm to call him 2 days after my MRI next week so he can review those results and work with the other doc to come up with an appropriate approach that is the least invasive possible (recognizing that there's a good chance that it will end up being lap at some point).
He spoke knowledgeably about RNY and also about all the issues around it nutritionally and physically. He also asked if I'd read David Kessler's book (The End of Overeating), which he's "almost done reading" and liked a lot, and Anne Katherine's Anatomy of a Food Addiction... both of which made me comfortable that he understood a lot more than usual about where I was coming from. He had good suggestions to share to make the WLS trip easier as well.
All in all, I'm impressed and grateful that I found both of these great docs!
Here's hoping for good test results and a proactive plan of action!
