On pureed food...what else can I eat?

Oh and there is always ricotta cheese too -you can add spaghetti sauce and mozzarella cheese and mircowave, it is like lasanga! Or add splenda and cinnamon - tastes like rice pudding! You can also add instant pudding mix and it is like mouse!

Get creative - puree anything. I am sure that you can have eggs too - scramble eggs with cheese. SO you should be almost on to soft foods right?

Hope that this helps!

I think scrambled eggs was on softs, not pureed

The list that my NUT gave me for the pureed food has scrambled eggs on it.  I tried them a few times and my pouch doesn't seem to like them right now, so I haven't had any since last week.

Good to know....

As far as eggs are concerned...if you feel like experimenting...

Try one of the following:

Egg whites only
Egg substitute only

Many people can't tolerate eggs period but the substitute is ok
Another one of my friends, even 5+ years out...she can have a fried egg no problem.  She can have a hard boiled egg, no problem (both parts) however...omlettes and scrambled eggs...she cannot tolerate once the yolk is mixed up into the white.  She has to have egg white omlettes or egg beater omlettes.  Go figure.

You can eat whatever you want as long as

A)  It meets nutritional guidelines (fat/sugar/protein etc)
B)  You put it in a food processor/magic bullet/blender

My favs:

Ricotta cheese w/ splenda and cinnamon (I still eat this OFTEN)
Ricotta cheese w/ sauce, garlic powder, mozzarella, heated in the microwave

Meatballs in brown gravy pureed up (ok, so it looked like dog food but tasted good!)
Meatballs pureed w/ some spaghetti sauce and garlic powder on top
Home made chilli ran through the processor then topped w/ cheddar and sour cream

Brand names of "greek yogurt"
Oikios
Fage
Chobani
They might not necessarily be by the other yogurts.  In my supermarket (giant) the chobani and Oikios is kept closer to the sour cream and the things like that, while the Fage isn't kept anywhere near that stuff and is kept on the other side of the supermarket in the "organic food" isle which has it's own little itty bitty fridge space.

Don't look for the phrase "greek yogurt" as it can be hard to spot. Look for the brand names.  Oh - and if and when you do find it...don't get the flavored ones - loaded w/ added sugars.  Use stuff at home to sweeten them with.

I had a hard boiled egg, all cut up into small pieces off of a salad bar at Chuck E Cheese last week along with some cottage cheese and the egss seemed fine.  So I think you may be on to something Pam,with the mixing of the yolk and white together!

Ok Kelly... did this last night and it was YUMMY!!!

(note - recipe is for 2 servings...)

3 pre-cooked italian meatballs (about 1.25-1.5" diameter) (i used fresh, not frozen)
2 tbsp chopped white onion
1/4 C. raw sliced mushrooms
1/4 C. unsweetened spaghetti sauce *

Sauteed the onion and mushrooms in a nonstick pan with a few squirts of "Olivio buttery spray" (basically like "i can't believe it's not butter" but with olive oil).

Heated the meatballs in the same pan (or you could heat in microwave).

Put all ingredients in the blender and puree.  Put in bowl and top with a little shredded cheese (mozz, romano, whatever...).  Heat in microwave for 10 - 15 seconds to melt cheese.  Alternatively, you could stir in a little ricotta cheese - that would be really good.

* I found "Don Pepino" brand spaghetti sauce with no sugar - just tomatoes, water, and spices - at Acme (it's in an old-fashioned yellow can on the top shelf... very easy to miss)  Tasty!

Per Serving:  145 cal, 8.5g fat, 10g protein   (with mozz cheese - could up this stirring in protein powder or using ricotta cheese)

One of my favorites is take can tuna or chicken, add some Dill Relish (not sweet relish), Low Fat Mayo, and spice it up. Puree it with a hand blender and chill it. Tastes just like chicken and tuna salad, but looks like baby food. It is really tasty and loaded with protein.
