Hi all.  Anybody have any fancy home remedies for Shin Splints.  I've tried everything that I've read on the internet - tylenol, ice, wrapping them, resting them, but none of that is working.  I'm in agony....can anybody help a girl out???

I forget it if was for shin splints or charlie horses but one of the ladies on the preggo board said that putting a bar of soap under the sheets by her feet worked!

I eat bananas when I get wierd leg symptoms. Hope they go away soon!!

Liz

PS - have you tried different shoes???

I think the bar of soap under the sheets is for restless leg.  I eat lots of bananas too, for my leg cramps at night.

I wore sneakers all day today and they didn't seem to help much.

Thanks for thinking of me, though.  Hope you and baby are doing good!

We are good - nauseous but good! Thanks for asking :)

the bar of soap is for leg cramps, unfortunately.

The only remedy I know for shin splints is heat, rest, and tylenol.  Sorry!

Thanks Karen.  I've tried all that.  Just being inpatient, I guess.  And hoping somebody has a secret remedy they can share.

I just googled it because well that's what I do! lol most of the articles that I read said to prop your feet up above your heart (lay in bed with pillows under your feet**** the area and wrap the ice on it to compress it slightly NOT tight!, tylenol, stretching by pointing your toes towards your nose with your heel on the ground and getting insoles with good arch support for your shoes.
Hope they go away quickly!!

ANd I think that you are over a year out so it might not be tragic to take 2 advil or motrin with food in your stomach and a pepcid (I've done this on a few occasions for migraines) You can always call Dr Boe and get his OK!

yeh, I was thinking about the Motrin, because the Tylenol is doing nada.  Good idea taking it with Pepcid....I never thought of that.  I'm gonna give that a try.  I'll let you know.

the only thing that really works is time... sorry... but if they get worse... go to the doc... you might need some kind of special thearpy if they are really bad... hang in there the ice and stuff will work ...

Thanks Shannon.  I'm beginning to think you are right.  Nothing I have tried is working.  Everything I have read says rest, rest, rest, so that's what I'll have to do for now.
