I have a similar experience at my Temple - Keneseth Israel in Elkins Park - just outside of Northeast Philadelphia.  I was named there as well and my children are 4th generation!  We however have had different rabbi's I love our current ones!  They are awesome!

No problem with the math - It is kind of fun for me - I know - I'm a math geek - at least that's what my students tell me! :)

hi everyone,

Not too much going on for me today. Heading to the bus stop with the kids and then to the gym. After that, the post office and grocery store than home for laundry! Everytime I post on here, I think, wow, I have an exciting life!!
Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day. Enjoy this beautiful weather. I plan on having my dogs take me for a walk this afternoon....two labs, they literally walk me but I love them.

Mornin'!

Not at work today (thankfully) but now i feel all "off-routine" and need to get my head in the right place.  I'm waiting for the cleaners, then will leave and go walk/run.  Later Katie and I are heading up to my in-laws to see my niece... she's just been retired (at 27!) from the Navy and is heading from Maine to Florida with her little boy (he's 18 mos, and she's 4 mos pregnant).  Her husband (also Navy) is in Iraq, so she's moving to FL to live with her mom until the baby arrives.... a much better solution IMHO than living on a remote farm in rural Maine by herself with an 18mo-old while pregnant.  Yikes!  We rarely get to see her, so this is a treat.

The CHALLENGE of the day will be the visit to my mother in law's... the woman cooks like there's an army coming to visit, and hasn't ever met a veggie she likes.  It's all stuff like ziti and sausage, and baked beans (doctored with bacon, brown sugar, onions, etc.).  I already warned her not to be insulted but that I would be bringing my own food... she seemed a bit put out, but tough.  She's going to have to learn that I cannot be eating that type of stuff anymore, even out of politeness.

If I get home in time, I've got a Bucks County Guild of Craftsmen meeting tonight, too.  So another busy (and challenging) day.

I've gotta get better at meal planning!

Good for you for sticking to your guns about your eating at your m-i-l's - she'll get over it. Wasn't long after my surgery that my sister and b-i-l came for a visit and treated us to dinner - I had barely started on solid foods so ate tiny bites and not much at all. My mother has never been a big eater so she had a lot left - my sister and b-i-l ate all theirs and then some, and then commented 'Well, I guess we're the only ones actually enjoying our food' - well you know, it bothered me a bit at first but then I realized that I was going to hear comments like that for a while so I just let it go.

You'll become 'normal' again to the point where people won't even notice what or how you're eating - but for now don't let them push you into things you can't or won't eat out of guilt - you'll only hurt yourself physically - their little hurt feelings will heal a lot faster!!

Good morning all - Had my first yukky feeling last night after probably eating dinner too fast.  Got that "Stuck" feeling - fortunately it did not last long and I learned - can't eat a whole cheeseburger - (No roll of couse!)  I am still finding all this food stuff amazing - only ate ONE cheeseburger - and that's it?!?!  No chips, fries....ANOTHER cheeseburger?  And no drinking with it!  WOW!  I am starting to amaze myself ! :)

Today has me at work - still working on statistics with my 8th graders - then this afternoon - we need to get on a very exciting yellow school bus to head down to the Merriam Theater for the Philadelphia All-City Orchestra and Choir concert to see my 14 year old play trumpet - Wonder if I will be able to actually see him?

Will probably not get home until close to ten - Wow - no faceboo****il 10:00?!?!  What will the facebook world do without me?!?!

Don't know why this post is so crazy today - maybe it is all the wonderful sun we have been having!

Have a great day all!
