Girls....monthly cycle question
Hi girls - traditionally, I am like clockwork when it comes to my period. I have been in the habit the last two years or so of using a website called mymonthlycycles.com to track my period. I'm always within a day or two of when the site tells me that I am due (kind of cool actually - I get an email reminder that it's coming)
Anyhow, according to the site, I was due on or around April 29 - It's now May 12, so I'm at least 10 days late. Of course, I am a little worried about this, as I have surgery scheduled next month. I had my urine dipped last week and no indication of pregnancy. I've been spotting some, which is unusual for me and I have also have had many of the usual signs that it's coming; headache, breast tenderness, acne, bloating, etc.
So, it sucks that I am going on vacation next week (camping) and I really don't want to have it then - especially if it building up and is going to be a gusher once it finally shows up and I definitely don't want to be pregnant. As far as I can recall, there were no mishaps in the birth control department. I'm sure the fact that I am stressing over getting it is not helping the matter either.
The only thing I did differently over the last couple of weeks, is that I changed my diet up for about 8 days - fruits and veggies only. I've also begun a vitamin regimen about 4 weeks ago. Multi vitamin and calcium. Could this have messed up my cycle???
As always, any input would be appreciated.

Lisa - it is probably all of the stress of everything going on throwing off your cycle. I would go get a cheapie pregnancy test just in case, to put your mind at ease. Also the vegetarian diet could be doing it too - need protein!!! Make sure that you are getting in beans or some form of veggie protein. Vitamins shouldn't do it to you.
Hope that it shows before your camping vacation! peeing in the woods is no fun without your period! lol You are also late enough that if you call the Dr (gyn) and tell them what is going on that they should give you something to bring on your period, especially if you tell them about your surgery and camping trip.
Keep us posted!

Lisa,
Stress can definitely wack out your period BUT... as a cautionary tale... urine tests do not work for everyone!!!! Both of my pregnancies never showed up on urine tests, only blood tests. So if you're not sure and there's a chance of it, I'd ask the doc to do a blood test. Certainly can't hurt to know.
And as Liz said (i think it was liz anyway! sorry!) you can also ask the gyn or midwife for something to "bring it on" if it's just a stress lateness. It would really suck to get it while camping! And if you're going to an area where there are bears or mountain lions, there are extra precautions you would really have to take, as the scent of blood can be a real attractant for them. (More experienced female campers can give you advice on that - i'm a novice, but it's something that i've been warned about more than once.)
Good luck!
