just curious...are you a preop or postop?
I have PCOS too and I've also been told I wouldn't be able to conceive and I believe it too because I can't have a period on my own even if I wanted to. this is a big motivation for me because I've always wanted a family. if I can reverse the PCOS I will be so happy...it will bring my dream of having a family back within my reach.
I am a post op....will be out 3 years on 9/11. Still have the last 20 or 30 pounds to lose, but I will get there!! My tip is to make exercise a regular part of your life, if you haven't done so already. The farther out you get the more you are going to need that exercise to help you to continue to lose/maintain.
Good luck with everything!

I've been trying to increase my exercise if you can really call it that. I've only been doing walking and not much because of the pain and swelling I get after. plus I can't really breathe so that's an issue too. I did sign up for some water aerobics so I'm hoping that will help with the pain issues. I'm sure once I start to lose the weight exercise will get easier for me.
Post-op, 2 years on May 31. I can't believe it's been that long. I'm maintaining mostly, but still losing a pound here and there. I don't do anything special, but I watch my amounts, keep away from sugar, and try to follow the pouch rules: no drinking with eating; protein first; nothing more than 2 grams of added sugar; 1/2 cup to 1 cup at a time. I exercise regularly mostly walking and bike riding. I enjoy life to the fullest now and appreciate every little thing like crossing my legs or wearing stockings. Life is good after surgery.

I think one of the hardest things for me will be the no drinking while eating. I've been saying that ever since I started my journey too. I have a quick question though...how do you know what's added sugar? do you mean added by yourself or not natural in foods? I think this would be some handy knowledge. thanks!
You get used to the not drinking when eating. I do keep water around to sip on though if I need it. As for added sugar, I read the labels. If it has something more than 2 grams of sugar, I look to the ingredients. If any form of sugar other than fructose or lactose is named in the first 5 ingredients, I will choose not to eat or drink it.

I am pre-op. Have been pre-op since Oct. 2008. I've run into quite a few medical problems that have to be rectified prior to me having surgery. I've switched to a new surgeon because my original has refused to do the surgery. My new surgeon is willing to research and work with my other physicians to do this surgery as safely as possible. Although I'm still waiting to hear back from him, I have myself convinced the answer will be no surgery for me. My husband has more faith then I and believes the surgery will be a go as soon as they figure out all the precautions that will be needed to get me safely through surgery.
My husband is 3 years 4 months out. Doing amazing. Has to watch and be cautious of his grazing tendencies. Is working on his Doctoral degree so has not been to the gym in a year, his last 3 week intensive will be next month after that he will be going back to the gym. He's had his plastic surgeries.

Hi and Welcome!!
I have Lap RNY tomorrow (yikes!
) and can't wait to get it over with. I had a sinus infection on 4/28 (when my surgery was originally scheduled) so my MD rescheduled.
I started this journey in 9/08 and since have done lots of research and preparations for the surgery. Finding this board is the best thing yet! It is a great source of support and suggestions :)
Best of luck with everything along your journey :)
