***Mother's Day Roll Call***

Good Morning everyone!  Well I hope all the mom's out there are able to sleep in a little bit and that all the kids out there are doing something special for them!!

I had a GREAT time w/ the family yesterday.  The one brother brought his new gf over.  Traditionally, his "type" of girl happened to be a "size 0 B*tch" and they have not been friendly or treated him well.  This one seems soooo nice and "normal"  It was great to talk to her.  And he told me and Brian "I really like this one, I'm very happy" which was nice to hear!  I gave mom her stuffed cabbage and perogies and lemme tell you - haven't seen her that happy in quite some time.  It was the hit gift of the whole day!

Anyway - about today.  We are doing a little bit of cleaning....I need to run out to the food store for just a few items and then his parents are coming up here for a visit.  Nothing to exciting.  I do need to get back on track eating wise - yesterday was just a disaster of a day for me.  I ate anything and everything including stuff I shouldn't have.

Oh well, nobody's perfect and here's to accountability!

Have a FABULOUS day all!!!

Pam

good morning back at ya!

today is a touchy day for us. we planned on spending mother's day with both of our mothers this weekend and we got ditched by my fiance's yesterday and I'm pretty sure we're getting ditched by my mom today. sooo...the fiance works today for a few hours and I'm going to hang out with my dad during that time. I'm so annoyed by what my fiance's mom did, but she's technically not my mom yet and I'm not one to really step over bounderies. I just feel bad for him because he had his heart set on this visit.

after my dad's visit today and my fiance gets out of work we're probably going to just hang out. it's a bit cold out here, got really cold yesterday, so we'll probably stay in. found out it was a free preview movie channel weekend so we found movies we wanted to see and got the DVR set. lol.

other than all that this is probably going to be quite the lazy day. looking forward to dinner though...I'm trying a new eggplant dish! yum.

Good morning and Happy Mother's Day to all of you out there, whether you nurture human kids, furry kids, your neighborhood, or the planet!

Not quite sure what's on tap for me today - the girls are "kidnapping" me.  I've been told NOT to exercise this morning because I'll be doing plenty of walking and to prepare to be outside.  But to dress nicely (i guess that rules out the beach).  So I've packed 2 snacks and lunch (we're supposed to be back for dinner) and am off to who-knows-where.

Should be fun!  It will be lovely being out just the 3 of us!

Enjoy the day!

We had a really lovely day!  The girls had planned a trip to the philly zoo for me (we haven't been there in years).  Katie drove, they had brought their own lunches (so they wouldn't be buying something while I had my sack lunch), packed the sunscreen... thought of everything!  They split all the costs between the two of them.

On the way home (we go through Newtown), we drove through Washington's Crossing and did a bit of sightseeing.  Becky showed me a covered bridge I didn't know about and we drove around on back roads for a bit looking at all the amazing houses and architecture.

We had a wonderful day together and the weather could NOT have been nicer!

Thanks for asking!

Happy Mothers Day to all - Pam, sounds like your day in the kitchen was well worth it - so glad mom appreciated the effort.

My 'child' unfortunately doesn't recognize time or clocks, only that it was daylight and he was ready for his morning walk, so we were up at 6:30 - yikes!! And windy? OMG what is with the wind this year - I am really over that. Had a busy morning but the afternoon has been quiet. Getting ready to order dinner out and pick it up - my nephew came over to spend the day which makes my mom very happy to have at least one grandchild around for the day.

Hope everyone had a nice day - Kathy

Hi all - Happy Mother's Day to everyone!  Today is a tough day for me - I lost my mom to cancer almost two years ago - so this is my second year without her - ALthough I have three amazing children, it has always been about my mom - and it is weird to NOT be celebrating her - I was busy today which helped - Hebrew School this morning, a great distraction, then with a girlfriend to get a mani-pedi and then a NICE LONG walk - darned friends who want me healthy LOL!
I am currently sitting at my SIL's house with the family and my just about 16 year old nephew - Oy -where does the time go?!?

This is going to be my first, "real food" since surgery - my six week check up is tomorrow - pretty exciting!  planning on some chicken, wish me luck! :)

The weather is perfect today!  Hope you are all enjoying your day!

I hope the chicken went well for you!  Don't be discouraged - many have trouble with chicken the first few times.  It needs to be really really moist and even that can cause problems.  I liked rotissery (sp?) chicken early out (still do, actually) without the skin

It has been several hours and the chicken seemed to stay where it was supposed to!  I cut into pieces like I would for a new child just learning how to eat and I also had some grilled veggies and about 4 bites of potato salad - It all seems pretty good so far! :)  It was very exciting to eat an actual meal! :)

However, here is my fear- I wasn't full - I deliberately ate a slice of cheese about 15 minutes before I had dinner so that my body would think it was time to start digesting, however, after I ate my dinner, which in total was about 4 oz. I was not full - Yes, I was satisfied, and I know that is the goal, however, I am worried that I will never feel full and fall back into old routines!  Is this a normal feeling early out?  I am going to the doctor tomorrow and will ask the nutritionist, however, they are all skinny - and you all know this better than anyone else! :)

Thanks! :)

You will not feel full nor hungry for probably at least a couple of months.

When your stomach and intestines are cut, so are the nerves that run through them which give you the feeling of fullness.  Until those repair themselves, they don't "work"

Even further out, like 16 mos, I try to live by the following rule:  I don't ask myself if I am "full"  I ask myself if I am still hungry.  It seems like the same thing, but really, it's not.

Keep measuring and eat according to portion size, not how you feel.  Also, eat by the clock.  You probably won't be "hungry" per say - but every 3ish hours you should have a small meal.  Meals and snacks for me earlier out were all about the same size/amount.

You're doing just about everything right - but I wouldn't get into the habit of having something 15 minutes before eating - you are setting yourself up for a "grazing" like behavior which can lead to weight gain.  Also, make sure you eat ALL your protein first and then if there is room the veggies and then carbs as a very last thing.
