Am I doing something wrong ??
OK - so today is my 2 week surgiversary (yay). I'm on full liquids still and am getting my protein in and reaching my fluid goal (64oz). I'm exercising daily.
Here's the problem: the scale hasn't budged an ounce in the past 4 days! My routine is to get up, go out and do my morning exercise (usually my brisk 1.5 mile walk), shower, weigh, fix my protein shake for breakfast.
Isn't it too early for a stall? Is this a bad sign?
Keep in mind that I don't have the benefit of the "full" bypass - only the small pouch without the intestinal bypass because of the surgical problem.
Sigh.

Not unusual and you aren't doing anything wrong - your body is just catching on! Keep doing what you are doing and the weight will come off - Oh and put away the scale!! Weigh once a week! TRUST me you will get more aggrevated then not with the thing! WOmen's bodies especially can change weight up to 5-7 pounds OVERNIGHT! And that isn't something you really want to see! lol
Once a week...

Hi Karen
Ok - you know what I am going to say. Don't obsess with the scale. Believe me - you will lose weight!!!!! Wait a week or so and get weighed again. Stalls are normal for all of us. Pounds do not come off every single day. You may have to wait and then you will see the numbers drop. I know you are doing the right thing so it will happen for you.

Even with full bypass the first stall generally happens within 2-6 weeks. And it can last for a week or two or three. It's annoying as all get out!
Keep doing what you are doing. You are a woman....so there's one thing against you...and although I don't know your age (nor do I expect you to reveal it here on the boards) the older you are, the "harder" it is for that stubborn weight to come off.
You'll get there, hard work and dedication.
And yes, step away from the scale...it's an evil evil thing. And I had my hubby "kidnap" my scale once when I was sleeping and hide it. And then one day a week he would get it out when I wasn't around and I would weigh myself the next morning. I think he generally took it out on Thursday nights and I would weigh myself Friday mornings....but that would change pending my work schedule.

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

Karen,
Its only been 2 weeks and you are doing absolutly fine!!! There will be times when you body will say "WHOA whats going on?" This is one of those times. Just keep doing what you are doing and things will move again - PROMISE.
We can all tell you to stay away from the scale - but we all know thats easier said than done. Try this - I found that weighing myself BEFORE the shower gives me a lower number than after. Also, I have talked about this alot in meetings and on the boards - do not underestimate the power of the tape measure!
If you have not done so - run out today and get yourself a tape measure. Measure all parts of your body (neck, upper and lower arrms, thighs, calves, breasts, above and below breast, hips, abdomen, waist, etc). Once a month on the same day every month - repeat. You will be amazed as on months when you feel like you havent lost enough pounds on the scale - your tape measure will show HUGE reduction in measurements.
I also take a side, front and back view on the same day as I measure. I am almost 17 months out and I still do this faithfully every month. It helps when you begin to question if you are really loosing or not (and we all do have those questions from time to time).
Again you are doing great!!

Thank you to everyone... your reassurances on the timing, in particular are very helpful. It just seemed way too early for me to be stalling, which had me concerned that i was screwing someting up royally!
I will put the scale away and not go near it for a week.
I will also try and find my tape measure and do the measurement thing once a month. I honestly meant to do it before surgery and just ran out of time. But starting now would be a good thing.
THANK YOU all, each and every one!

I have told this story before, so for you old-timers :) dont read if you don't want to hear it again... but I wish I had a quarter for every post surgery person who had this question. When I had my surgery nearly three years ago (wow) I had a stall about three weeks in and the scale didn't move for three weeks. I CRIED! literally cried, I was sure that I was going to be the only person that the surgery didn't work for. Liquids, starving and nothing for three weeks! And then... well the scale moved and continued to move until I lost 120lbs.
No problems, typical for everyone, don't fret... just keep doing what you are doing!
Hang in there.
