People asking if I am nervous about my upcoming surgery?

Jenn,

I was exactly the same. I got so sick of people asking me if I was nervous for the surgery. If I had a nickel for every time someone asked me that...

I wasn't nervous at all. My doctor (Dr. Boe from Barix in Langhorne, PA) was excellent and I felt totally sure about everything going in. I was a little scared of the lifestyle changes afterwards. I'm less than a week out, so that's still a little nerve-racking, but it's getting better.

This is a decision you made to better your life and your health. Don't think twice about your decision, and don't let anyone make you feel nervous or scared! You will do great and in a few months, you'll be on your way to your new life!

Good luck with everything!

Take care,

Oh, and I'm not really nervous, just anxious to get this surgery done and start losing! I picked a great surgeon, a great program and my chances are great that all will turn out okay. That's better odds than when I go to Atlantic City!

I totally agree with you.  We have the same surgeon and I just feel complete at ease with my decision.  Even the liquid diet isn't that bad after a while.  It just becomes a part of your life.  Good luck and if you need any help since we are so close we will be very helpful towards each other.

I got asked it all the time.

Was I nervous about the surgery?  No...I knew what was best.  Was I nervous about complications from surgery?  Absolutely.  I'm a nurse and see the "worst case scenario" every day....and although they are "rare" all of them went racing through my mind day of surgery.

Glad you are at peace with everything!!  And you will be able to handle all the "right" foods after surgery - just might take a little longer for some rather than others!

Everyone asks us becuase they have heard all the "horror stories"  I know with my experience, those closest to me were so happy that I had finally made this decision.  They had watched my struggle for over 20 years with ups and downs and NEVER getting to any goal.

For me it was a four year decision making process and the day I walked into the Barix Clinic in Langhorne, I was sooo ready!  I am only 4 1/2 weeks Post Op and I feel GREAT!  There are definitely moments where the addictions are really strong and I want eating back to be my activity - but I know in the end it was the best thing I could have done for my self, my husband, my children and my friends.

I also love that you call this, "the tool"  I still have to tell people that this is not the magic pill to make me "thin" it is the tool to help me become healthy!

Thank you for posting!  I am glad that you are feeling so good about your decision!  It is an amazing journey!

Jenn,
I was totally at peace also. I just knew this was the right decision for me. I don't think I was ever more sure of anything in my life. I am now healthier than I have ever been and have no regrets. Try not to let others make you nervous.

Jen I was scared and nervous but by the time it had arrived I was so ready to do it.  When people asked me I would say "a little" and leave it at that. And you are going in with a wonderful attitude. Best of luck to you and welcome to the losers bench.
