Hair Loss

Well my hair is coming out by the handfuls, and my long hair is now thin and stringy.  I think I may cut it short in hopes that it will start regrowing.  I am taking biotin and using nioxide ( i think that's the name) shampoo.  Anyway, has anyone else cut their hair and have it regrow thicker after the surgery?

Totally normal! Nioxin does help! So does cutting your hair shorter. I almost had a bald spot so I chopped my hair off. Best thig I could have done! My hair did come back healthy and curlier! I was loosing it from maybe 2 months post op until 7 months post op - by the handful!

Hope this helps!

I had long hair prior to surgery and cut it short before the surgery with expectation of it falling out. I started lossing at 3 1/2 months out and it lasted till around 7 months ..I didn't take anything for it because all they do is stimulate new growth doesn't prevent the hair loss. Now at 12 months out my hair is growing back in I have a body to hair that used to be straight and it seems to be a tad thicker as it grows...

Hang in there all just part of the process!

Mine started falling out and getting extremely thin right after surgery.  It is now coming in delightfully fuller and shinier than ever.  It was a long wait that felt REALLY long.  I cut it very short to give it a rest and help it grow back.

Hair loss sucks, no matter what - mine didn't start til late in my 4th month post-op and got really, really thin - especially around my face. My hairdresser cut it shorter (I've always worn it short) and helped me with a style that made me feel more comfortable.

And like most of the other ladies *****sponded it started coming back at about 6-7 months and seemed funny at first because it looked frizzy from all the new growth, but now is full and healthy and wavy - never had wavy hair ever, and now it waves and curles all over the place - LOL!!

I didn't use any special shampoo or anything - when my eating improved so did my hair - and take your vitamins - they are very important and will help your hair too.

Thanks for the hope.  One more question, anyone know of a good stylist to go to?  I live in Northeast Philly, and really do not have a regular stylist.  I want someone that knows what they are doing and will give me the right look for my face.  Any suggestions?

I go to Fresh at 2nd Street Pike at Couty Line Road.  My stylists name is Anita Polin - she is amazing!  Her number is 215-322-7000. I am also from the Northeast!  I hope that helps! :)
