Dennis just got a call from Shauna she is out of surgery and it turned out to not be a hernia but a suture left over from her plastics surgery. She is doing good and will recover fast.

Thanks Everyone,
And thanks to Dennis and Beth for being my "surgery angels" for the day.  Yes, it turned out NOT to be a hernia but an allergic reaction to a silk suture from my plastic surgery I had last September.  The suture caused the allergic reaction which my body responded by  encapsulating it within a sack of scar tissue called a granuloma.  Luckily there was no puss involved and nothing leaked.  It finally became large enough (the size of a grape) to be seen and felt under my belly-my belly is super flat now so it was easy to see once it was there.  It may have been "forced" to the surface after an intensive ab workout in the gym a few weeks ago.  Ultimately, the surgeon didn't have to cut into my abdominal muscles at all and simply removed the granuloma with the offending suture sealed inside, allowed me wake up and have no pain at all.  Tonight I have a small amount of discomfort but nothing to really speak of.
The beauty of it all?  I get to return to the gym in about 10 days instead of 5 weeks and not worry about blowing another hernia again.  When we found the "hernia" I was running about 5 miles a day, 5-6 days a week and now I get to quickly back into the groove.  The only challenge in the future is that if there is more silk suturing in there, I may have more surgeries in my future.
Will you have this problem?  It's really NOT a very common thing and I tend to be a very allergic person without a whole lot of rhyme or reason as to what I react to.  The answer is very likely that you will NEVER experience this.
Thanks for all of your well wishes today via text, phone calls, facebook, twitter, emails, prayers, etc.

Love,
Shauna
