Pain/cramps...

So, I really pride myself on not being a wimp.  My favorite phrase is "suck it up!".

Since my surgery in the end of February I get this cramp/pain in my left side.  It is around the same area as my belly button but on the left side.  It feels a lot like a wind stitch you get when running.  I hate to be a complainer but thought I would check in on this one as it gets pretty painful sometimes.

I don't know if this is common.  Is it just part of the normal recovery?  When I last saw Dr. P. they didn't seem concerned so I haven't been either.

Just wondering if other people have had similar cramps in their side after surgery.

Thanks for your help!

I don't remember having that pain in particular, but I do know that I have read about others having it.  Apparently it is pretty normal.  Bring it up to Dr. P again the next time you see her if it is still bothering you...or let her know if it gets worse.  I do remember there being many weird aches and pains and sensations for quite some time.

I had that after my gall bladder surgery, so I am sure that it is totally normal (especially if Dr P wasn't worried - she is very attentive!) I think that the "bigger" tools are put in on that side.

Hope it feels better soon!

I get the exact same pain!! Sometimes it really hurts!! If I walk around a bit when I have it, it seems to go away. I see Dr.P next week for my six week check  and I am going to ask her about it. I will let you know what she says.

I felt the same pain for upto 4 months after my surgery with Dr P and yup that is normal. I was told that the reason for the pain on the side is that is where the doctor made the biggest incision. When I was experiencing this kind of pain sipping water and walking helped me. Sometime laying down also helped me.

Feel better that pain is no joke and is painful when it starts.

People comment on my over 100 pound weight loss and attribute it to my WILLpower, but it is my WANTpower: I WANT to be thin and healthy more than anything else!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks so much for your comments.  I am glad to know other people have had this too (even though I am sorry you have the pain in your side...)

I appreciate hearing about your experiences with it.

Take care!
