hot foods with any whey
Would like some advice. Last night we had a full house for dinner and my daughter had cooked, so I figured i'd eat with the family for the first time since surgery (been avoiding it just to avoid any temptations or oddity). I made healthy request cream of chicken soup, which i pureed in the blender after heating and mixing with a can of water to make sure there were no pieces left (really hadn't been to start with). I then blended in a scoop of Any Whey. YUCK! It all kinda clumped up and curdled in the soup and made the soup taste really funky. (unless it's just my taste buds... but the texture was horrible). I thought it read on the can that you can mix it into soups and hot foods... is there a trick to doing it so it doesn't corrupt the taste and texture?
I'd love to be able to look forward to some soups and savories over the next few weeks, because fruit shakes and smoothies will get old really quickly, I'm afraid. I'd like to head that off with variety.
Thanks!

I think that I would mix the soup with milk instead of water and maybe mix in a bit of greek yogurt for protein - I couldn't handle the protein powder in there! To me the AnyWhey always tasted wierd.

PS - I think that you have to mix it in cold then heat it up - some of the ladies on here put it in their hot chocolate I believe

That curdling is the WORST! Yuck indeed! I used to use a blender (either my Magic Bullet or a regular blender if at my mom's house) and I found that blended the soup + Any Whey very well. It's important to make sure the soup is not too hot, because heat can curdle the Any Whey. I also had good luck with blending the Any Whey thoroughly into a small amount of room temperature soup, and then adding hot soup to that. There is some taste to the Any Whey but this made it more palatable. Good luck!

the curdled any whey is the worst.. yeh if its to hot that is exactly what will happen.. YUCK
i couldnt handle the sweet shakes in the begining either.. so thats why i turned to the any whey.. it works better in cold foods/drinks or baking then in soups.. it does have a funky taste but when i couldnt get anything else down it was life saving.. best protein drink i found was isopure waters... na had them approved my NUT... good luck..

I had the same problem when I tried it with Oatmeal. Be4cause of the flavor that is still part of the unflavored why I don't mis it with savory foods. My favorite thing that I do reagularly is to make Jell-O S/F Instant Pudding (regular sized box with two-cups of milk and two scoops of unflavored whey. Whisk the pudding and milk... let it get semi thickened and then add the whey. There are so many great flavors, Pistachio, Banana Cream and Cheesecake to name a few... try it!
FYI... I don't find that the chocolate flaros blend that well... you may want to try a beater for that. Otherwise, I just do it with a whisk.
Best Wishes!

I tried Liz's idea with the leftover soup and it was WONDERFUL! I used:
1/2 can campbell's healthy choice cream of chicken soup
1/2 can water (i had already mixed it with the water last night)
1 tbsp very finely chopped fresh onion with a tiny spritz of olive oil from the sprayer, sauteed in the pan until clear
1/4 cup greek yogurt
Last night, i had sauteed the onion and heated the soup and water in the pan. Tonight, i just reheated the mixture in the microwave until just about hot, then thoroughly stirred in the greek yogurt and finished heating. Ran it in the magic bullet for about 45 secs until no chunks were left - strained it and added salt/pepper to taste. YUM!
By my calcs, I'm figuring that prepping it this way is about 18g protein. Adding milk instead of the water would up that a bit.
