My Week from He**!!
Hi everyone--
So this was a terrible week. The worst I have had in probally forever....I don't even know where to begin .
On Monday I called out of work due to a migraine. The girls went off to school and my hubby's 13 year old who is special needs left the computer on. Now let me say this...the computer is located in a central part of the house (family room) and she was on a special parentally controlled account...we took all the precautions...we locke dout all the adult sites and she was not able to chat or im or any of that. Or so we thought.....I told my hubby I do not ever want to hear her refer to herself as dumb again because she figured out how to go in and turn off and bypass all the parental controls on the account.
Needless to say as I am laying in the bedroom I keep hearing the dings of the instant messenger...so finally I go out to check what is going on and there on the screen is like 15 IM boxes all popped up on her account. They are all from men (PEDOPHILES!!!!!)
saying things like "Hey sexy" "Hi sweet mama" "R U NAKED?""
OMG!! I almost threw up...so I go and take a look at the history on the account and WHOA she has been on adult chat sites and sex sites and oh my gooodness what a nightmare!!!! So I start chatting with a few of these sickos to find out how long this has been going on ...and it was not pretty...it was explicit and rude and disgusting. Then because they thought she was home--the phone starts ringing...these were not boys from school these were men calling my house trying to engage in ******** with a 13 year old special needs child. When u talk to her on the phone u can tell she is a child--she only operates at about an 7- 8 year old level so she is pretty naive and does what she is told and did what these men said.
I searched her room and found sooooo many cell phone numbers screen names ansd other evidence of this debacle
I dry heaved. I callled my hubby who immediately got home and we confronted her ...she said they were friends!!! OMG!!!!
Long story short we went to the police who now have all the info, chat logs, and access to the account and are waiting fro the detective to get back to us...if and when they find one of these perverts we hope to be able to press charges and find some sort of justice. It is horrible and we feel terrible. But the police and the counselors and the psychologist we all talked to and set up a team of professionals for her to help her--they all said we followed the righ things to do...we didn't know she had bypassed the security or was getting up in the middle of the night to get the phone to talk to these perverts.
So please please please if you have children who use a computer please double check all the parental safeguards and check the history. My hubby, myself, and his 16 year old have all password protected our computers and she can not access them anymore, our land line was disconnected, and the family computer in the family room is shut down and locked. All we can do now is pray and get her all the help she needs....
All I kept thinking was if this happened to us it can happen to anyone....I hope we can find some of these guys with the help of the police and possibly the FBIand press charges and help protect at least some other children out there from these menthat trol the internet looking to hurt children. The police thank god were so kind and helpful--god bless them--especially when they realized she was special needs and truly has no idea how dangerous this was....they were great and took everything and reassured us...so now it is a bit of awaiting game for us....My hubby and I haven't slept since we found out ..so hopefully we can get some time to decompress and let it be what it is right now...praying is a big help for us right now and church.

I am so sorry you are going thru this. You are taking all of the right steps. There are some pretty sick people out there. My daughter was riding her horse with a group of other girls and they saw a jerk runing naked and of course one of them said to him put some clothes on ELOHSSA! Leave it to Natalie to come up with something like that and then they called the police. I would change her cell phone # and either not let her on the computer at all or unsupervise and get her some professional help as well. Kind of makes me wonder who showed her how to do this in the first place? I would be questioning that too. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Not to make you paranoid but since those sickos have the phone #'s what about your address? Something to consider.
WOW Laura, that is so scary. I have a 10 year old who is not special needs, but she is very needy for attention. I'm glad you were able to stop it before something even worse happened. Also glad that the cops are being so cooperative with you to help catch these pigs.
On a similar note, what kinds of parental controls did you put on? I'd like to be sure I have everything I can to protect my daughter.

Sounds like it was a good thing that you did stay home on Monday. You did/are doing the right thing. I also wonder how she learned how to do this ? I'm over 50 and still don't know all the bells and whistles of my computer. Lets hope they find some of these "pervs" soon and get them off the internet.
