I can't speak for Dr. McCloskey, but I believe she is with the group at Magee. They are really good so far and I am scheduled for surgery next week. No problems with my appointments of 6 months of classes. Let me know if you need any info about the Magee experience.
Hi Cindy,
I did not have surgery with Dr McCloskey, although I am/was a patient of Dr Colella. I was wondering if you started out with Colella and have moved with him. I am considering a move but my present coverage does not cover UPMC. I plan on changing for the end of the year.
My surgery was a conversion(long story) and very difficult for me. Dr Colella saved my life last year, both b/c of weight loss and getting me through some complications. Changing hospitals is a concern for me, but I have every confidence in Dr. Colella and know he would never lead me wrong. I have some additional surgeries that I need to plan for and I am not sure where to go at this point, so I am putting them off until I have more options.
Please let me know how things go for you and if I can be of any support.
Best Wishes.
Danna

Hi Danna,
I did start off in his practice, not really sure who would have ended up doing the operation however, I did not want to go there if he wasn't available there. Since he moved to Magee, he can't operate right now. I need to do this towards the end of June...I teach and really want to use this summer to recup and get through the first rought stages without the stress of school. So...I am going where he is, but with another surgeon.
Hope things continue to go well for you.

Hi! Dr. McCloskey did my surgery last December. I felt very confident with her. She spent a lot of time with my during my pre-op visits answering questions and never made me feel rushed. She is very personable. Of course I had to ask the question about how many fatalities she has hd while doing these surgeries and I was thrilled to her that she has not had any and she also has not had anyone with a leak after surgery. The PAs that work with her are also great. Each post op visit has been very detailed. I hvae not seen Dr. McCloskey since I left the hospital but have seen other physicians that work with her along with the PAs. It just totally impresses me that the program is directed by a female and there are 2 other female surgeons.
Good luck on your journey!
