You're just going through 'head-hunger' and withdrawal right now - it'll pass. The 5 day pouch test is for people who are a couple of years out and have gotten a little off track with carbs and/or sugars and need to re-commit to the right eating plan.

Take walks when you think about food - and not to the kitchen! Watch a movie but stay away from the Food Network. Regular TV is loaded with one food commercial after another. Find a hobby that keeps your fingers and  mind busy. You're probably not hungry at all - just thinking you're missing food. It'll be back in your life soon enough.

Thank you...and you're right, I never realized how many food commercials are thrown in your face until after my surgery...i'm thinking WTF!!!! But I'm staying strong and stickin to my clear liquids Phase 1...I seem to have a low tolerance for water,,,just one sip and i have several hurtful belches! Uggh....i'm still waitin on a B.M. but that may take a few more days...I go tomorrow for my 1st visit post op and i will bring all my concerns to his attention...'
Thanks for your response...and I will take your advice on that hobbie and start back with my ceramics.!

Welcome to the losers bench.  Follow your surgeons instructions and all things will come into focus for you.

Actually you will start to feel less hungry once you've started full liquids.

You will come to know the food network and food commercials as food porn.  The 5 day pouch test is for people who believe their pouch is broken.  As they work thru the phases of food in the test, they will see that their pouch still works and its not broken.

You basically are in the first day of the pouch test right now.

Some days your the dog and some days your the hydrant.

Congrats on joining the loosing side!!

I was one that mentioned the 5 day pouch test - as other had mentioned I let carbs (bread and crackers mostly) creep back in too far in my diet and need to take control! I am doing my version and all liquids and the stressful job I have would lead me to failure for sure!

If you google it you will get a bunch of sites.

I actually found food TV comforting early out- I was fantasizing!!

As for the water - I had the same problem, add a bit of crystal light (or equivalent) too it and NO PROBLEMS! it is so wierd! Dr told me that it is fairly common though. It wasn't until about 1-1/2 years out I could drink water again!

Oh and the BM - liquid in - liquid out, I was a good 2-3 days on full liquids before I had a BM

Sorry I didn't respond sooner but also wanted to welcome you to the bench and tell you that it does get easier - but that head hunger can be wicked at any stage out!  Most of us have "been there done that" if you don't mind the saying.

Congrats!

Pam
