Barix Clinics

Hi PA - hope everyone is having a great day today.  I'm only just getting on the board to see what is up with everyone.  Hope you all had a good day.

Anyhoo..I had the good fortune today to join my best friend at her PAT's at Barix in Langhorne.  I went with her so she didn't have to go alone.  I was prepared with a book to read while she went to do her testing.  Well, the folks at Barix let me sit in with her for everything except the xray and the ultrasound.  The ladies that work there are just awesome.  So friendly !  My friend and I let them know that I would be coming soon for my PAT's and they we're happy to hear that I had started my journey too.

My friend and I also discussed in between tests how nice the Barix facility is.  Clean, well lit and most importantly, it didn't have that funky "hospital" smell.

So if anyone else is heading there, you will love it.

I had my surgery there back in september of 2006 and it is a great place! 

I had my WLS there in June 2007 with Dr. Pupkova and I had plastics there just last week  with DR. Lam and the staff there is the best around and the nursing care, there is just nothing like it anywhere

I found Barix on line when I started researching WLS and after reading all their information I just knew there wouldn't be one close enough to me to have my surgery at - I was so thrilled when I found the one in Langhorne - its about an hour from my home but doable. On my initial consult and visit my husband and 2 of my best friends went along, were allowed to sit in on the group consult and all of them were amazed and very impressed with the doctors, nurses, nuts and facilities and felt so much better about me having the surgery.

One of these days I will be ready for my plastics, and like Suzanne I will also be utilizing Barix.

You are absolutely going to love having your surgery there.

You have found the BEST place there is for WLS.  I had my surgery in 2007 with Dr. Pupkova.  I LOVE her and can't say enough wonderful things about her.  The folks at Barix are absolutely the FINEST from nurses to respiratory right down to the greatest nurses aides ever and the sweetest office staff!  You will be in great hands!  Hope to meet you and your friend at a support meeting soon.

Oh and one more thing....while we were waiting for my friend's testing to start, the nicest woman came up to talk to us.  She told us that she had had surgery at Barix and lost 100 pounds! She was there with her husband - he had his surgery yesterday.  I didn't get her name, but if she reads here.....thanks


I'm hoping to get to a support group meeting at some point.  I work two jobs, so scheduling is difficult, but perhaps I can make some schedule changes at my part time job to get there.

So wish I knew about Barix before.     I live like 5 minutes from there, but just went with Univ of PA healthsystem b/c I used them for other surgeries i've had (sinus surgeries).

I am looking forward to attending next months Wed night support group at Barix and meeting everyone!!!!
I love hearing all the advice and you are all so supportive.   The support groups at Penn Hosp are good, but not much socializing. The one I went to was about plastics for after weight loss and more of a Q and A session.  

So glad I found this website and learned of Barix support groups and met all you wonderful people to help me along.   Can't wait until I"m out of surgery in 2 weeks and on the losers bench with you all!!!

Hi Lisa!  My name is Lisa too, and my surgeon was also Dr. Pupkova!  I can't say enough wonderful things about her or about the entire Barix facility and staff.  In fact, I traveled to Langhorne, PA all the way from Boston, MA to have my surgery there.  You will be in very good hands and I am very excited for you!!!
