Venting..

Okay so everybody knows I have some sort of a stomach bug and am just not in the mood for ignorant people. But I feel like a B*tching session here. I was hired with 4 other girls for my current position and one of the girls is pregnant and we are throwing her a baby shower on April 24th so here is where it get tricky. You really get to know people when it comes to money. First of all we discussed that since this woman already has an older son who is BTW 17 year old and she was "unexpectedly" pregnant the second time she is going to need EVERYTHING. So basically she has given away everything from her first baby so we decided that if we would pool our money forgather so we can get her a big gift. We had thought that since she is registered at Babies R' Us we get her a bouncy chair which is about $54.99. That is about $15 a piece. So what do you think happens today two of the girls decide that they will buy something on their own and proceeds to pick up the gift last night. I guess that is okay but we discussed this and now I am having to dish out $30 for the bouncy seat in addition to food and cake for the shower so this shower is basically going to cost me about $60. When I mentioned that we have to get some decorations from the dollar store get this one of the girls says money is tight for her right now and that she cannot contribute anything towards the extra things we need towards the shower (and I am wondering does this mean even towards the cake and the meatballs sandwiches we were going to pick up from Sam's club?) We are so new to this company it's not like I can go to a few people to hand me some money toward, paper plates, forks and knives BUT this is the same girl that eats out at a fine Italian restaurant every Friday as her special treat. I truly am resentful because she somehow finds money to go buy herself $20 lunch every Friday but money is tight when it comes to contributing $5 towards dollar store supplies. UGH just plain disgusted. Sorry this is so long but I just wanted to Vent and thanks for listening and I will see some of you at the meeting tonight!

People comment on my over 100 pound weight loss and attribute it to my WILLpower, but it is my WANTpower: I WANT to be thin and healthy more than anything else!

this is what we do...and granted, we usually have more than 4 people to draw from...but we send around a folder with a card and a note asking people to put in money towards the gift/event.  Then, we only spend what we get...that way, no one gets stuck.  People put in a few dollars (again, we have more people to draw from)....but, we all know that there are a few who are just plain ole cheap and only put in a dollar or nothing at all.  there is actually one woman here who drives me nuts...she is so self centered...she actually complained once that she didn't get what she wanted from us for her birthday!!

Shilpa - complain away - that is just plain not fair!! I think that I would of told her to return the gift and I would have gotten something on my own! People are so selfish! Here you are trying to do something nice for this woman! Maybe you should suggest that you all just buy lunch out and contribute a few dollars to buy the other ladies lunch. We do that for b-days here. And I will usually make cake or something. there really aren't a lot of us either.

I hear ya...   it is frustrating.

here, we set up a sunshine fund, and every pay, we have everyone donate 2.00 to the fund.   it's only 2.00!

The for their birthday, they get a 25.00 gift card, and a cake.   it always works out!

We kinda do the same thing as Mary's work. Between the doc office and the Dialysis unit, we all give 5 bucks per month. It accumulates over time. Then when there is a birthday, shower, going away party, etc, we use those funds for food, gifts, decorations, etc.

This may not work with where you are but it works so nicely for us. Our secretary handles gathering money each month. It's nice.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

F that.
