Jo's full story as written by her!
First of all, I truly appreciate all the thoughts comments and well wishes. It's greatly appreciated.
So, at my Ob appointment last evening, My BP was high again. It had been high on several occasions. So he sends me across the street to the hospital to be in "observation" overnight. Through the night, BP came down to normal. By morning, the doc checked me and I was 3 cm dilated.
Her thoughts were.....I was doing better, baby was doing pretty good, I was 37 weeks, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine reported a healthy baby last week, so she wanted to induce me since I was already at the hospital and both of us were in good health for birth. I said that was fine. And I got started on Oxytocin.
In the mean time, the other on call doc came in and they were going over the plan for me. As they look further in my chart, they found that my very first US showed a due date that would make me 35 weeks and 5 days. RED FLAG!
The hospital I will deliver at does not have a neonatal unit. Since there is documentation in my chart that indicates a lesser due date, they cannot "in good conscious" induce me if we are not in "distress". So the meds got pulled. I was fine with that. I understood completely and was actually very glad they were following the rules and trying to make sure they do whats best overall.
They really don't know which due date is more accurate since all my ultrasounds show baby smaller ever since my first pregnancy 11 years ago.
Well they checked me again, still 3 cm but this time he decided to "poke" the baby's head to see if there was "reaction". OMG!
That was not comfy!
So that made me have bloody show, and contractions came on pretty good. Got some pain meds so I wasn't clinching my teeth and in pain. Contractions lasted most of the morning and afternoon. Then subsided to tolerable ones that didn't require medication.
So after lots of labs, and contractions letting up, doc said I could come home and let things happen on their own. I was disappointed I was going home without my baby, but thankful to get home, shower and relax in my own bed. So I will be on bed rest till he comes. I will go in to see doc tomorrow.
So here, I thought this morning that I was being induced and my little man would be in my arms by now.........but God had other plans and I am OK with that. He will come when he is supposed to.
Sorry this was so long. And there aren't baby pics to include with it.........LOL. Just thought I would try to explain what happened. Since I tried to randomly update through the day.
And another thing........YEAH for wireless Internet at the hospital. It helped Johnny and I get through a long day! LOL

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
