The waiting game...

Hey All,

Not sure if anyone remembers me anymore. I've been pre-op since 2007 - waiting for insurance approval. I've already had 2 denials but will be resubmitting again this July. I was beginning to give up hope on ever being approved, fearing my insurance will find any reason to deny me because they really don't want to pay unless they absolutely have to.

I even started looking into going overseas for the surgery but the whole idea of that just really scares me, especially taking into account my social anxiety. I want to be optimistic but I don't want to get my hopes shattered again so I'm keeping my expectations low. I really hope I get approved but I'm not betting on it. I'm so sick and tired of this body and food and insurance. Bleh.

When I wrote my first request for precertification I stated I was 25 years old and now here I am at 27. Its been nearly 2 years since my initial consultation at Barix and I'm still playing the insurance waiting game. Wish I was rich enough to pay out of pocket and avoid all these hassles. Oh well. Wish me luck.

Hey Corinne,
Keep up hope, ok?  I waited almost a yr and a half to be approved!  I jumped through hoops, did a 6 mo. diet, and all that jazz.  It will come around!  Just try to be patient, and optomistic at the same time (I know that can be hard)...vent if you need to...we are here!

Hi Corinne - I'm new to the PA board, but I just wanted to take a minute to say - hang in there.

Corrinne-
I am sorry you have had to go through so much waiting and no surgery yet..it is very hard to wait once you have set your mind to having the surgery to then have to go through all the red tape and wait for approval.  You are very strong for continuing to go through the process--keep your hopes up.  Maybe you could try getting letters of recommendation from your doctor? That may help.

I hope you get your approval soon!  Stay strong!

Corrine,

I remember you!

I'm glad to hear you have not given up - and please don't.  What has Barix said about everything?  Anything else they can suggest that you might need in order to get through the insurance process?

Sending good thoughts to you!

Pam
