I was just wandering if anyone thinks or knows if the length in Roux en-y surgery make a big difference in longterm Weight Loss..Does it matter how long the doctor makes both  limbs?
...just wanted outside opinions...my doc says the norm is 25 on the one and 100 on the other is the norm...but what if they both were extended a little farther...like 50 and 150....is there a such thing as Distal RNY?  I know this may sound like a dumb question.....sorry..

not a dumb question at all!! I would imagine that the longer the bypass the greater the mal-absorbtion. THat is something that is for a lifetime, not just initially. I don't have statistics but this is my hunch! My Dr didn't give me a choice and honestly I don't know the lengths! But it worked - I am 2+ years post RNY and down about 140 pounds and 20 pounds from goal!
