this can't be failure (speaking to myself)

So I had a regular physical on Monday (for work)... and I weighed in 86 lbs down from pre-surgery weight.  And about 96 lbs down from (what I think was...) my highest.

I just can't figure out how my sizes (clothing) haven't gone down drastically (???).

Ah well, I'm still happy when I look at the actual numbers (and graphs are always fun to see).  So, yes, it may be slower than others, and less obvious (to me?)... but as long as that scale goes in the right direction and I FEEL better, then I WILL BE HAPPY, dammit.  ;)

Thanks for reading,
Shannon

Shannon - you are still way less then a year out - much more will come off!

Lets see I am 2 years and 3 months out. In the first 7 months I lost 100 pounds In the remaining time I have lost 37... I still have 20 left to go to get to the Drs original goal. I went from a size 28 to a size 14, I could probably be in a 12 if it weren't for all of this darn fluff/skin.

You are doing a great job - I would suggest taking out a pre-op photo and comparing it to one now - you will be amazed!!

You always seem to have your weight loss expectations set to the highest level and so far have not seemed happy with what you have lost, which is amazing, because when have you ever lost weight like this before? Its no wonder you're not happy. This is a tool - its not a miracle cure. The weight didn't come on overnight but it is going to come off a lot faster than you put it on, and from your stats it seems to me like you're doing pretty damn good.

Clothing sizes for women are ridiculous - I can still wear anything from an 18 to a 22 depending on the cut, and trust me, I'm sticking closer to the 18's because I like the sound of the number. Screw the 22's - I'm over it - but sadly don't want to keep spending a ton of money on clothing until I'm at my personal target weight. So I'll keep the baggier 22's and deal with it.

There were months when I was losing lots of weight but didn't change clothing sizes - then one month I wouldn't lose much but would lose 2 or 3 clothing sizes - give your body time to adjust to its new self - it will change and shift and drive you crazy, but in the end you will weigh less, you will feel better and you will look better and wear smaller clothing.

Now stop whining - try not to compare yourself to others (I know its hard not to because I've done it myself), but we're all different and will lose at different rates and ranges.

So go ahead and BE HAPPY - get over not dropping 100 lbs over night - not going to happen unless you cut your legs off.

hmm, funny, but I didn't think I was whining... I was actually way more positive than usual.  This is something i've been working on (to stop being hard on myself).  But anyway, thank you gals :)

Honestly, I didn't go down one size until I lost 70lbs.    Then, between 70-105 I went down 3 sizes, almost a size every 2 weeks.   It'll happened and very fast when it does and the more you exercise the better toning you'll have and smaller size you'll get into in the end.  Hang in there, its early days yet.

I had literally lost 100 lbs before i had any real huge size changes. I know that sounds impossible but I did already have  tight elastic clothing LOL Dont worry it will come.
Then you wont be able to keep up with the changes and it will get annoying

One of my good friends had surgery and she didnt think she was losing weight. Some people are different than others. But think of how lucky you are to have lost almost 100 lbs. Thats an awesome accomplishment. You are very lucky to have such a great tool. I know sometimes it is hard especially if you dont have alot of support or family there to help.

If you are interested we have a support group in Orwigsburg each month. Maybe you should come and meet with some people. We are always looking for new people.
