Home from PMC and Recovering Well
Hey Guys -
Thanks to everyone for your well wishes and thoughts for me during my surgery last Friday. Dr. Herman did a Lower Body Lift with Contour at the Pocono Medical Center (PMC). In his very words, everything went perfectly. I am still not sure how much skin was removed and will have actual numbers later, but I do know there was quite a bit taken off.
I cannot see much under the binder, but the little bit I can see - has me really excited to see the final result after the swelling goes completely down. I also expected to see a 10 - 15 pound weight gain post surgery (due to fluids and such), but in fact with all of my clothes, shoes, medical bandages, binder and swelling I actually weigh 1 pound less than before I went into surgery - so that can only mean the end result is going to be nothing short of fabulous :-D
Recovery is going pretty well. One day at a time is my motto. I have to say that all of my gym time really prepared my body for this surgery and I consider it to be one of the biggest factors with why the recovery is going as well as it is.
Dr Herman is incredible. I cannot say enough good things about he and his PA - Amy. From the first visit to his office - to the surgery and follow up calls - they are caring and thourough. He certainly has a gift when it comes to his skill as a surgeon.
Dr. Herman worked very hard with the Insurance company to get as much covered as he could and gave me an awesome break on the pieces that Insurance would not cover. Anyone considering plastics should really consider Dr. Herman (even if you have Keystone Health Plan East).
Pain is very manageable now and I am moving a little better every day. Hunching over isnt as difficult as I thought it would be and sleeping in the recliner isnt so bad either. My only complaint (if I had to complain) is that I'm hungry - but cant get much of anything in. I am finding that my pouch can only handle 1/2 a cheesestick at a time. I am watching closely in getting all of my protein and fluids in.
Thanks again everyone and I will post pictures as I get them taken.

I tried and tried and tried to post a response to this in the early afternoon. But my husbands computer had different ideas.
Anyway - I'm glad you are home and are doing so incredibly well!
Congratulations!!!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

I'm glad you are doing so well! I have heard that eating after the TT is difficult, but as long as you are able to get some protein and your water in, you will be fine. And I agree 100%...Dr. Herman and Amy are awesome! Very compassionate and incredibly skillful! I am heading back up there next Thursday for another follow up. I can't wait to see your results.

You guys are awesome - thanks for the well wishes. Today - Day 5 of the recovery - I do not feel as good as I had yesterday or the day before - more like I have been run over by a big truck. They prepared me for this. Its not so mu*****isional pain - as its a general feeling of 'OMG I just had major surgery'. My muscles are revolting - but today will see me in the chair most of the day.
I will update you guys tomorrow after I get the drains out. I am excited to see the results then.
