I am so embarrased to do this,  but i need some major help.. I need to get back on track with everything, protein intake and exercise and drinking.
I ve gained some weight back  after I thought I was doing so good, now  I cant stopped snacking, I cant get protein in for some reason, and trying to get 64 oz of fluid in me is almost non existing.
I can only handle 1 1/2 bottles of water and thats it
All my labs are coming back horrible and now I have to go and start my iron infusions again.
I work out on the total gym my family bought me for Christmas and my tredmill.  I need some encouragement.  I tried to contact my surgeon but found out he no longer is employed at Barix which was a huge crush, and not sure if they would take my new insurance. I dont know where to turn to except for you all..
Help please..
Barb

well do the 5 day pouch test...

http://www.5daypouchtest.com/

Then pack up all the bad stuff in the house... things that tempt you... pass them on to friends or family...

but start with the 5 day pouch test, walk, workout, and sip... pretend you are just home from surgery... and don't worry we have all made mistakes... but this is a tool that we can make work for us again...

btw- join us sometime at Liz's house... we all get together to cook and stuff... it is a lot of fun and you leave with some great recipes that are good for us...

BArb - you have taken the first and hardest step - admitting that there is a problem - now lets get a game plan.

Shannon suggestion is a great one - the 5DPT is a great way to "reset" your brain. It is hard, but you can do it - Dr Marymore gave you a tool, now you have to work it and you CAN do it!

There are some fantastic meetings at Barix - I would encourage you to get involved - the first saturday meeting is this weekend noon at Barix. Pre-op is the 2nd tuesday, post-op is the third wednesday. Support group meetings are a great way to get back on track - friends who know what you are going through!

OF course you are also welcome at my meetings here where like Shannon said, we cook, support eachother and learn tips and tricks from those who know what we are going through the best - fellow patients.

Here's to making tomorrow a better day! I suggest packing food for the day the night before. Like tonight, before I sat down I got my oatmeal portioned out in a tupperware, cheese in a ziplock, a pudding and a jello, and if work wasn't buying lunch I would have that all packed up ready to go to in a pile in the fridge so in the morning when I am rushing I have no excuse and just toss it in my bag and run - less then 2 minutes.

Ask away - I'll answer anything!

Here's to getting back on track!

Liz

PS - I also post monday - friday a sticking to the basics post where we post our menus to be accountable - we'd love to have you join us - no judgement, just sometimes it helps to put it out there for others to see

and you must identify your emotional and behavioral triggers
i suggest the book Beck Diety Solution for this
it is not a diet book it is a cognitive behavioral approach to taming
the emotional and behavioral reasons we eat

come here you will get tons of encouragement we will praise
you
we will also kick you in the butt if you need it
there is no magic bullet here you know that

No need to be embarrassed - happens to the best of us - but you do need to take control

I'm with Liz - I MUST pack my food in advance or otherwise I have a very hard time controlling my eating habits.  I do snack more than I should on some days, but it is far less if I plan accordingly.

Start posting here as much as possible and start with the basics.  Getting rid of all the bad things are a good start - if it's not there, you can't eat it.  And start keeping a bottle of water or other "allowed" fluid with you at all times and just keep sipping.  Set a timer if you need to for every 15 mins to take an ounce or two.

The tool will work for you - but you need to work the tool.  It is a lifetime struggle.

Barb,
Can you come to the Phoenixville support group meeting tonight? 7PM in the hospital cafeteria, Rt. 23 ( Nutt Rd). Most of us have gotten off track at some point in time, many have gained some weight back, myself included. Getting back to basics and sticking with the rules can have you succeeding again. A former head surgeon of Barix's is coming onboard at pville hospital in May. I don't recognize his name, but I'm hoping maybe Dr. Marymor might have been recruited along too. I haven't heard anything as to his where abouts.

Hi Barb,
Forget the embarrassment.  It is a waste of your time and you have far better things to be doing!  Tomorrow there is a FOUR hour support group at Barix in Langhorne and YOU are invited.  It is called "First Saturdays" and we start at noon and go till 4pm.  Find me-it won't be hard as I introduce myself and all of the leaders.  I coordinate the day and will assure you that you will be empowered and will shed the embarrassment.  See you tomorrow!

If you google Dr. Neil Marymor, you will come up with his new address and phone number.  He actually called me last week to give me his new number:610-715-2316.  He is now in Springfield, PA.  Call and talk with him.

do the 5 day pouch test with me starting on Monday! I have a post up about it. I'm in the same place as you though I haven't gained any weight (yet) and I REFUSE to let that happen to me...though if I keep eating the CRAP I eat it's guaranteed to happen.

COME ON! you can do it! Remember how good it feels to be in control. Take control again!
