Do you remember?
So...do you remember your wows? Let's make a list and make ourselves feel good about how far we've come.
-Weighing less than my husband
-Weighing less than my wedding day
-ONEderland
-Moving my car seat FORWARD
-Being able to open my gas tank push button thing in the car WITHOUT opening the door
-Not having a "2" start my clothing size
-Being able to shop in any damn store I please
-Wearing a brightly colored halter top dress without feeling like some sort of circus side show
-Completing a 5k and having energy to go to a party afterwards
-JOGGING on a treadmill (ok, not for long periods of time, but c'mon)
-Looking at half a sub from a deli store and going "wow - that is WAY to much food"
-Not being ashamed of what I look like in front of my husband
-Looking at a picture of me in my nursing uniform and thinking I actually LOOK like a nurse (why I thought I didn't look like a nurse when I was heavy beats the crap outta me)
(edited)-Fitting into ONE leg of my old jeans
So..what are yours?? Repeats are obviously acceptable and I bet others come up with some that some people "forget" they had or didn't "count" as a WOW but really are.

Feeling my ribs for the first time since childhood , first noticed while showering
Passing another staff member in a narrow section of the nursing station without having to suck
it in, and having room to spare
Who ever heard of your shoes becoming too large?
Looking in the mirror and actually having a waistline that indented instead of overflowed
Having people not recognize me until they heard my voice
Being able to fit in a kayak with room to spare
Wearing a bathing suit and not feeling selfconscience sp? sorry.concious?
Fitting in any public seat, no more tight squeezes
Passing my reflection in a mirror and seeing a normal size person, I'd all but give myself wh
iplash!
Chris
Downsizing my rings, bracelets AND necklaces for the first time ever - 2 full ring sizes and a full inch off my bracelets
Lost one full shoe size - from a 10WW to a 9R
Being able to shop in stores - I had gotten to the point where the only clothes I could find to fit were in catalogs - how depressing! Now I can shop with my girlfriends (my personal fashion police) and buy 'cute' clothes instead of flowy old lady stuff.
Getting rid of my car seat belt extenders and not needing one on an airplane
Actually having men flirt with me again!
Wearing 'real' jeans with buttons and zippers instead of elastic waistbands
Feeling comfortable in social situations - and not always being the biggest one in the room now
Actually being able to use my laptop as a LAPtop! I have a lap now!
Seeing a much smaller shadow - that's amazing (and Pam I know that was one of yours!)
Not being afraid to sit in smaller chairs at restaurants and actually asking for a booth again!
FEELING MY HUSBAND'S ARMS WRAP THE WHOLE WAY AROUND ME!!
There are so many more but these are some highlights that I pulled right off the top of my head.
having extra room in bed
not hurting after gardening
I have to try on my largest pants... maybe next weekend
weighing less then I did in MIDDLE SCHOOL
I could wrap my wedding dress around me twice probably! It was a size 32 - I am now a 14/16
not being afraid that I would break a ladder at work
ok so this one takes some explaning - our shop is so busy right now and there is stuff everywhere - it is like a freakin' maze down there - well I FIT! no need to move anything
having hubby tell me that I am skinny
seeing collar bones
that is all that I can think of right now... but heck - thats a lot!
I am 4 mo post op today and have lost 83lbs so far!! I hear what I am saying but my mind is working on believing it
* crossing my legs at the knee without holding on to them and keeping them in place
* zippering up my coat/jacket!! and having extra loose material. I have NEVER been able to do that since I was a kid. My coats were always hanging open. I would cover the exposed middle section with a scarf in winter.
* collarbones appearing, chin/jawbone definition (neck thickness disappearing!)
* able to wear shorter necklaces again-gave up long ago-neck too big for the ones I have
* fitting in jeans not worn since mid 80's(saved this one pair-the waist is so high though :-)
* "legs got shorter"-had to move car seat forward to reach the pedals and still had plenty of belly room
* having coworkers telling me my scrubs are too big
* having 2 patients tell me how different I look than my ID badge picture on the same day-that felt sooo good
* having hiney bones-who knew!! Boy do they hurt if I sit for too long
* going to exercise class-NEVER before would I do that in public
* being able to say "NO" to bad foods available to me-special potlucks at work, desserts, chips, CANDY =my love and being truly ok with it
Can't wait for more WOW's to come my way.
Kelly
