realizing a 'wow' moment

So I've volunteered to not only coach my daughter's minors Little League team, but I'm also the manager.

This time last year, I'm lucky if I felt like getting up off the couch to even attend the games.

I'm not too good with realizing my wow-moments, nor giving myself some credit.  It's really something I have to work on, if only to improve my self-esteem.  So this is a good place to start, no?!

I also want to throw another THANK YOU out there to the people who have showed so much kindness and support to me since I started posting here.  I've been kind of having a rough time (emotionally) and a slow-time (re: weight loss), and some of your compliments (like yesterdays comments about my avatar) were so perfectly timed.  It really made my day (Norm, Pam).  Thanks so much.

((hugs))

You sometimes overlook WOW moments not realizing how big they are. But when you can do an activity with your child you didn't before.........it hits. I remember roller skating for the first time. I had so much fun. I was terrible but knew I would have never even went out there before I had surgery for risk of embarrassing myself or my kids.

It's good to have some things like this to make us realize how far we have come.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Start making a list of all your wow moments - big and small - they add up and really do help you thru the rough times (stalls, etc). And make sure you write them down to log them somewhere on your PC where you can see them. Definitely don't discount what you may think of as a small wow moment, because chances are its something you could never do before or wouldn't attempt to do...there are still times when I find myself hesitating to do something physical because I just figure I can't, and then when I do try it and it is easy and okay I just laugh at myself for being such a dolt!

Your new avitar just came thru for me - its great! Not sure why you think your weight loss is moving along so slowly...as long as its coming off and you feel better that's what its all about.

You are just hitting your stride today girlfriend with the comments and advice!!  Keeping a list of WOWs is an excellent idea.  3 years out and I barely remember them but boy could I use the reminding sometimes.   It's never to late to start so that's what I'm gonna do.  Thanks.

How great to be able to be involved with your daughters activity like that.  I'm sure that she will always remember that you did that for her.  Good for you for volunteering !

Your weight loss is something to be proud of, not believe that it is going to slowly.  Be thankful for every ounce you are down - as each one takes undue pressue off your body and increases activity.

I always like to divide my weight loss by 5 pounds.....for instance....I have lost approximately 105 pounds (I fluctuate from 100-110 pounds depending on when I am retaining and what not)  Why?  Because 105 divided by 5 = 21  BAGS OF SUGAR FROM THE GROCERY STORE.  No wonder I hurt like hell every morning after work.  There's no way I would want to carry around 21 bags of sugar every where I went!

You are doing awesome, we are lucky to have you here!

And your wow moment is JUST that, and it's not small, it's HUGE  Congrats!

you are doing an awesome job. your weight loss is as it should be, you are just fine. You are right the real work comes in learning to accept yourself, be kind to yourself and give yourself credit. This is so important to being able to keep it off once you get there. You are doing a great job.

Shannon, that's a great wow moment. I would have been right there with you not wanting to get up and get ready to attend a game a few short months ago but since surgery, things are changing. I don't feel the need to 'nap' all the time. Thanks for the PM's you sent me. I'm terrible about responding but know that they were appreciated. Send more if you have time fellow Strodel success pt!
