How long....
How long does it take until the anethesia is out of your system? I know surgery can reek havoc with your emotional state....is it the anethesia that does it? Plastic surgery wouldn't play games with my hormones would it (and it's not PMS). Or, is it more contributed to the pain medicine...maybe I am going through withdraw from the happy juice LOL...I want (not need)my Loratab!! I was fine until the end of last week, now I am crying for no reason...in the car, in bed, watching tv, at work! Today is the worse yet! Its like a cloud of doom is over my head and I can't shake the bad feelings....nor can I shake the fog...I am really having trouble thinking straight and keeping up with what people are telling me...my brain is moving in slow motion. For a pretty physically easy recovery, it sure is beating me up emotionally!

I wish I could help ya out HG. I can't speak from experience, but I know just from the GBP surgery, it took me about 4 weeks before I felt like I wanted to do anything. Your body is adjusting to the changes, ect. Call your surgeon's office, and see when you can start taking your meds again, or if they have any reccomendations. I'm 100% sure you're not alone, nor the only one that ever felt this way after surgery!
Head up girlfriend. You're gorgeous!
Think boobie cupcakes :)

boobie cupcakes LOL...someone at work made me some too....and someone at work had her daughter's babyshower this weekend...saw pics of the cupcakes which had jelly beans on them...I said they looked like my boobie cupcakes LOL
I think it might be from the pain med withdraw....that happy juice is some good sh*t! LOL I was thinking about asking for more, but since its a narcotic, I figured I had a snowballs chance in hell of getting more just because I wanted it
The only meds I take regularly are my thyroid replacement pills and birth control....i stopped the BCP's about a month before surgery, so the absence of those hormones could be making me wacky....maybe I should go back on them.

Hi Heather,
I had a harder time bouncing back from my plastic surgery than I did from my GBS. It is always best to ask your PS on your next visit, but I think you can rest assured knowing it is entire process and the big change that your body went thru. In answer to your first question the pros will tell you 24 to 48 hours. LIke you, I swore that a month later I still was having some effects.
Much luck to you.

Could it be just the big letdown of having it all over with?? How is your protein level? With your body sapping it for recovery purposes, maybe your emotional side isn't getting it's usual dose or using it's B-12 effectively. Lack of both will give you emote probs...
I cured my
jags w/extra B-12.

Good point! It could have something to do with the let down of it all being over.... Protein is good, although my appetite is NOT. No desire to eat, but I am getting in the minimum. B-12 is a good point too....i wasnt taking it while at home, although I was taking my multi vits. Maybe I will increase the B/12 for awhile.

heather oooh i hear ya. I had an awful time post PS nothing like WLS. I was tearful, i felt a sense of despair I cannot describe. Coming off the pain meds soon as you can is a good idea. I had some small withdrawal symptoms from them even after such a short time on them. I am not sure if it is the meds, the trauma or the anesthesia. but i went through this too. Drink water with lemon, dandelion root tea anything you can to help detox your system.
Yes...dispair...thats what it is. Not that I am happy you experienced it, but I am glad to know it's not just me! I had this after my thyroid surgery, but that was such a huge hormonal upheaval that went on for months before they were able to stabilize my body with thyroid replacement meds. I guess I wasn't expecting this with plastics...
I think getting back to my "normal" routine will help too. I am not used to sitting around so much and not being as independent as I normally am. I am looking forward to going back to karate in another two weeks even though I won't be able to do much more than watch and "pretend" that I am participating.

No longer than a week to exit the system technically speaking but I think the longer you are under the more "disruption" you might experience. And the mind and body are connected so I'm sure there's some talking going on. Just let yourself experience it and process it as it's happening and let it go. Just part of the package I'm thinking but I'm not a medical expert. Stay focused on perkies.
